hey guys,

I have just started the preparation for my car to get painted. i really finding it hard to decide what colour to paint it. i have thought of a dark rich purple, kinda so it looks black, but i also wanted to find a standard colour of a car so i didnt have to mix a paint. i have looked at most of the colour charts for like ford or mazda but still nothing. i did find one colour that i liked which is off the old fords like a XA gt model its called wild voliet.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions would be nice?

The dark purples sound good, Holden had a colour back in the day called Panther, was as greast blend of black and purple. Ford had a colour on the GTs and Tickfords that was more a dark burgandy in colour, but it had a lot of depth, plus doing a Ford colour is keeping it in the family too. Prolly the same colours the other Cuz's meant, but oh well, sound coolies either way if you ask me. Oh, I actually DO like the Mazda colour "spicy orange", but it needs a bit of bling to work it methinks...

hey bailey when u mentioned dark rich purple, i immediately thought of the holden chicaboo was talking abt, i remember the first time i saw it was about 10 yrs ago when a holden was parked outside our highschool, and it was like a blackcherry colour, it looks black at first but where the sunlight hits the paint it becomes a deep purple colour.

Holden still have a colour similar on their VY SS Commodores. Very dark purplish colour. I'll look it up and get back to you with the name of the colour.

The colour u were thinking of Gav was called cherry black. Panther mica was black with a silver flake thrown into the blend, which u can only see in the light. U kinda pick up these things when ure old man is a car nut :p

He has already started prep work without deciding a colour.......
That's like turning up to a tattoo shop and asking for 'whatever is popular now'

prehaps he was in a accident or something that requires him to respray it now without having time to decide a colour.

Say bailey, you wouldnt of happened to fly up to brisbane recently and hire out a white commodore from the airport would you?

Actually forget Panther Black, I suggest Bogan Leopard or Cheetah grey, it's a blend of flat grey primer with stunning black sanded highlights about the place. It's not obvious at night, but stands out mostly in lower class tenemental daylight. :p

Actually i am a chick, and i had a car accident about 2 months ago and i was going to paint is just black and then someone said to me y paint it black and spend a bit more and actually paint it something that no1 else has. so i have decided on midmight purple and i am getting the paint next week sometime. so i started the prep work and yes i already decided on a colour.
