Hey guys easy question....

Is this engine from a TX3 compatiable with my 97 BA 1.8 Manual?

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4642913715&sspagename=ADME%3AB%3AAAQ%3AAU%3A1&rd=1

The reason im after it is my BP's main steam valves are shot and more than likely a few other things so im after a cheaper/easier alternative.

Any feed back would be awsome!

Yep, as long as you use the BA bolt ons (intake etc) as various plugs are different.

Someone was selling a BA BP on here tho.

It would be cheaper to recondition the head ($1000) plus new valve stems ($200) = $1200 - and the engine doesn't have to come out and head is built brand new.

vs.

2nd hand engine ($800) plus install ($???) = more than $1000. maybe/about $1600 - that's a complete engine swap and only used/old head that could have same problem in 6 months.

Replaceing the engine with a 2nd hand one doesn't seem like an easier/cheaper option, I'd do some asking around about other options 1st.

Who told you that your valve stems are shot (main steam valves belong on 1800s' train engines).
