I have a 93 astina and i have one 12" xplod sub in the boot and it rattles heaps! i have been told to use that foam **** with sticky backing by some since its cheap. will this work? How do i get the plastic panel off in the pic? theres screws or something under the little carpeted bits that are on top of this panel but i cant get them off????????

Somebody please help as the rattle is very annoying.
Thanks...
this is from memory so it might not be accurate ...
it involves a lot of dismantling the boot area :)
remote the boot floor, and the plastic frame under it. this splits at a clip where the two halves join right behind/under the back seats.
remove the plastic trim around the boot lock mechinism, as it covers part of that trim. there should be at least 2 'screws' holding this in on the front-facing side. then u kinda pull it off. u may have to pull hard, but be careful and check where its being held at to make sure there arnt any other scrwes holding that in.
remove the plastic (and metal? ) screws holding that trim that u wanna get off. they'll possibly look like little plastic circles on the trim. some have a phillips head hole, som are flat and u just lever the inner circle of the flat ones up and then pull the rest out.
make sure the back seat is down
there are 2 (?) screws behind the area of the back seat where it meets the side of the car. Just that little bit of seat that doesnt go down. the easiest way is to remote that bit of seat, in which case unbolt it from the bottom, maybe at the side too ?? and then pull out carefully.
the other thing u can do, which i do if i cant be bothered removing that bit of seat, is hold up the bit of seat in the area around the metal back seat lock. ( visible next to the I in ur pic ) , remove the 2 screws with a short screwdriver, and u'll pull the trim out over that lock while holding up the side bit of seat.
but not yet !!
last thing is to remove the boot light ( if u have one ) and this is just a clip on one side, so push it to one side and pull the other up. i *think* the clip is on the front-facing side of the light.
then carefully remove the trim. pulling it over the metal seat lock thingy.
done it a million times :)
u may as well deaden as much of the boot as u can while its all pulled apart.
'foam stuff with sticky backing' ? is that those approx 1foot x 1foot sheets of black foam-rubber with a sticky back and a yellow sheet over the sticky side ? i had them. not bad. cheap, like u say, but they seem to work ok.
my suggestion would be to try and track down the location of as many rattles as u can before u start, and then get them all :)
its alwys the case tho, when u fix one, u find more.

Thanks for that...ill go try it out lata. Do u know where i can get that foam stuff from? what sort of shop??? Ive looked but cant find any. i can only find stuff thats about 3" wide and u buy it by the metre. and its only about 5mm thick... Would that work???
the stuff i was talking abt I got from KMart. In the auto section.
Jaycar has a range of sound deadening products which are pretty good.
Flashtac is alright too and can be found at bunnings and other hardware stores. Its supposed to be a roofing sealant, so have a look around but u may have to ask sum1 where they keep it.
Otherwise, there are some better and more expensive options available such as GSpot and even more expensive ones available too.
Another option is to get some spray-on deadening which u can find in most car shops such as autobarn, and KMart has it too
OR u could try somewhere like Clark Rubber they might have something useful. Even if u just get the foam from there and glue it on urself.
