had a thought the other night and i figured i'd bounce the idea here and see what ppl thought.

b3m could buy a 100L drum of tasty oil for cheap cheap and then we could sell it off to you kiddies for what would be a greatly reduced price over retail

but what oil to get? would ppl be interested? obviously the popular choice would go, but waddia think?

i'd go with something like the castrol edge 5w-30 or a motul oil (like the 300v power racing 5w-40, 300v chrono 10w-40, or the 4100 turbolight 10w-40).

any other suggestions? let's fly some types out and once we have a general concensus i'll get prices. we'd sell it in 1 litre lots.

Edge and Turbolight are pretty good, and the Royal Purple looked pretty decent the other night when we had the cam cover off. But I think a 10-40 option would be nice for our QLD summer...

We could do the same for 109RON racing fuel - for those of us going to jambo.

109RON + massive spark advance......hmmmm

might be worth us at least enquiring about a price for 200L of that stuff??
cos I assume the that andy, petie, kurtles and myself would be interested in it? mebe others too?

Will you be able to get Motul? If not penrite is the next best thing and i know you can get that in bulk?

Let us know how it goes...

as soon as we know we'll post.

but looks like the motul 4100 turbolight 10w-40 is the oil of choice bro!

the motul oil comes in drums of 60L and 208L. at this stage we'd only try and get the 60L drum as that's about 17 oil changes (3.5L each). i'd guess we'd go through that in an ok length of time. but 208L? almost 60 oil changes. i wouldnt want oil sitting around for that long.

just fyi, best price i've found on a 5L thing of the turbolight oil is $45. pretty good really - much the same as the castrol edge 5w-30 in 5L from supersheep.

If your engine is shagged, you might want to consider a 20-50 oil instead, or maybe something even thicker depending on how loose the old girl is...

Yeah, not much you can do about that other than run a kickarse battery so it doesn't run the poor thing for so long...

I could be, but I don't know much about Motul oil.. is this generally considered to be the best? Any cars specifically it's better for?

This Motul is a good product, and you would otherwise be looking at up to $10/Ltr off the shelf...

have a looksie through www.motul.com.au. it's all advertising obviously, but many many many people use motul oils. i'll definately be using the turbolight stuff for my astina, but i'll go the 300v high-rpm 0w-20 for the crx.

I've still got some Edge 5W30 to use up on the next change soz. But I plan to run the Turbolight all through summer...

Oh, what's that then? My oil gets changed every 5k. It's that simple, however I still have 4L or so of Edge left... Once the Edge is gone it will be well and truly summer for the subsequent oil change. In which case I am going to use Motul Turbolight, to save money and piece of mind.

You have an opinion on this perhaps???

I'll be up for some twilight, when are you able to distribute?

Like last time I should be available to pick up from you in the city (or whatever is easiest)

If we proceed with this idea, it'll be "BYO Bottle"..
you rock up to our storage facility (hehe. twiggy's hoose), and pump yourself a few L...pay cashage right then and there, and drive off.

gav - was referring to "seasonal" oil changesSoz, thought you were being n rsol. It just works out that my changes are kind of seasonal by coincidence. I do about 5k every 3months, sometimes less. So my next change will be spring, and after that the next will be in summer, just works out that way...

theres a choice of 2 and they are both fully synthetic..

So.... your options are synthetic... or.... synthetic... mmm... not much of a choice...

Oh, and while we're on it, WTF is fully synthetic, or semi synthetic... Seriously, it either comes from the ground or it doesn't, there isn't really a fully or semi about it...

Semi sythetic is mineral they process the sh!te out of, and fully synthetic is synthetic... personally unless my car was post 2000 i'd still be running mineral...

Stickalot, HPR10 is excellent! ;) Like we keep saying... Choose from Motul, Penrite or Havoline, and you CAN'T go wrong...
