hey there Dave

yep, i'll most likely be planning one for late January/early February. nothing set in stone, but we night head down to the Portsea Pub from the usual meeting place in Glen Waverly.

There's usually about 4 Melbourne Astina cruises a year - it all depends on demand and if i get round to organising one!

what side of the city are you from?

cheers

LOL as long as the breeze doesn't waft the smell over my way (Ringwood) i don't care :D :p

we usually get about 10 cars turn up at the meeting point - we've had as many as 14, and as few as 5 - it all depends on wether people are working during the day (as it's usually a day cruise)

As always, organising a cruise turns out to be very labourous...

Just got back from Anglesea Yesterday after a nice two week vaction, but would be up for a cruise anytime. I have not booked myself up for much for Jan/Feb, so if someone is going to take charge and suggest some dates (Dan U R really good at that mate) and map a route... :)[/color:post_uid0]

LOL @ dave :p

Well there was a plan to have a combined cruise between us and PGA (Pulsar Group Australia) and a couple of other clubs but that has kinda fallen by the wayside for the moment.

Due to my current circumstances, someone else is more than welcome to organise one :)[/color:post_uid0]

Hi guys;
Would be nice to all meet up for a cruise and take some photos of the Melbourne Astinas! :)

[quote:post_uid3]since its kinda hard for Dan to organise a cruise at the moment, I reckon its about time for me to do one. I've played a part in planning most of the cruises i spose.
[/quote:post_uid3]
... huh? how come it's hard for Dan to organise a cruise at the moment... is the astina off for more mods? ???

Heard there is a national Honda CRX cruise coming up this weekend? Maybe us Astina guys can join up or tag along with them since the astina hatch and Gen2 Crx look kinda similar in shape? :)

Anyways, maybe we should all post up which suburb we are from so that a convenient meeting point can be decided, IF we do get a cruise organised soon! :D

Btw, I'm down in Blackburn[/color:post_uid3]

Rupewrecht
31-01-2003, 12:54 AM
yep, astina is off the road having engine work done. will be back soon, and faster...

i'm up for a meet, probably something north-ish of the city as that seems to be a middleground for us when we factor in Adam...[/color:post_uid0]

another thought ...

If not my place, there are plently of good beaches around here we can meet at. Brighton beach or st kilda might be nice. Or the ferry pier car park is perfect size and easy to get to.

as for when , thats still being decided.
a sunday within a month or two would be good.

Can we get a hands up of who's likely to come, and any sundays that are not good plz ?

thanx!

i think go-karting sounds good :)
go-karting in the arvo, then a bbq dinner and night cruise.

main problem might be ppl who dont wanna be out too late on a sun nite coz of work/uni in the morning.

I'd rather be doing something fun together than standing around all arvo !!

good idea dave... i'd rather be on the go kart track racing each other..... as for meeting points, i suggested williamstown because it was closer to ballarat.

i'd say end of march becaues i'm forking out big for the grand prix...but i dare say if it gets organised before then, i'll be right to come.

Cheers

gokarting sounds like a good idea. i've been round most of the metropolitan melbourne ones recently and the best overall (judging track/karts/money) is probably the one in Epping - Top Karts i think they're called.

i didn't venture down as far as Geelong! but if there is one down there the south/east boys can meet up beforehand and crusie down :)

and on the topic of melbourne cruises...

An idea has been put forward to have a joint cruise with a couple of clubs, that being AstinaGT, Pulsar Group Australia and the Fast Fours Forum, plus a few other friends of these clubs.

At this stage, it wouldn't be til mid march (after the F1 gp) and would probably be to somewhere like sugarloaf dam for a BBQ, chat, the normal stuff, then returning via the black spur and healesville for some nice twisties!!!

At this stage, if we can get the same amount of cars as last night to turn up, plus the other two clubs and a few others....we could be looking at about 40-50 cars.

Will be a good way to meet people from other clubs, and check out there rides and what they have done.[/color:post_uid0]

Dogo

06-02-2003, 04:56 AM
i reckon it could. depends how busy it is...but more than likely it would be as busy as usual...asnd then you'd have a problem

as i posted, it's only tentative and i'm not really organising it :)[/color:post_uid0]

I don't know, maybe an AstinaGT / FordLaser.com combined cruise to Geelong with BBQ. Keep the numbers down a little bit (40-50 is a lot of cars), then maybe sink into another major cruise in late April for the FF / Pulsar guys etc. So many ideas . . .[/color:post_uid0]

06-02-2003, 06:47 AM
I think merging a cruise with Pulsar, fast fours & CRX club is a good idea.
It would be a blast with 40-50 hoons on the road in one pack!
Let's do it.
Does anyone have contacts in each of these clubs.

I was in QLD for last two weeks & came across a huge car park in Southport. ****, I've never seen so many modded cars in one spot (well, SummerNats maybe). There was around 200+ cars from Astinas, Pulsars, Rexy's, Model T fords, Lancer Evo's, and a truckload of turbo'd Skyline's.
None of them had hub-caps... Except for me. I dropped a lap in my "Kia Rio" hire-car & smoked 'em up for the boys. We got a few laughs. :D[/color:post_uid0]

yep, i'vm a surrogate member of the Pulsar club, and am one of the few active melbourne members of the FF club, but not crx.. and already been posted on Pulsar.

I'm interested in the cruise to Sugarloaf dam!
It'll be nice for a joint cruise... but if there are too many ppl, wouldn't it be a bit hard to control the cruise?

Was hoping that we can do a joint cruise with the CRX club in Melb, since they organise very good cruises in the past, and if you squint your eyes, there is some similarities from the BA Astina hatch to the Gen2 CRX! :;):

So yeah, a Ford Laser, fast fours CRX club and Astina GT joint cruise sounds good![/color:post_uid0]

Why don't we have a small club cruise with those guys who want to head down Geelong way [I'll look into the go-karting thing] then the guys who also want to attend that massive cruise can do it when they have theirs. I would personally like to meet a few people here first, as well as the guys I already know.

Meet up with Dave [Dogo],Dan & Mike again, meet the other guys I haven't seen before like Bill, Dave #2 & Trav.

I'll see if I can afford to head down to Geelong over the weekend [being unemployed is a bitch!] to do a bit of reconnaissance at the local tourist centre. Plus I'd like get some photography done down there.

guys,

long time no post....

i have been to ace karts in sunshine plenty of times, and b.c i've organised a few group bookings there (10+), they have offered an extra 5 mins practice for nada. We usually race the super karts (up to 75kmh) on the suzuka format... 25 mins racing... 10 mins warm up/qualifying and then 15mins race...for $45... www.acekarts.com.au

i've heard of this place in geelong, but haven't been able to find out much on it... i'll get in touch with my cousin to find out more... but yeah up for go karts for sure....after the GP though!!

as for joint club cruises, i'm all for it...just let me know when the big one is on...i'll try round up some troops.

cheers
