I can get most of these at a discounted rate. Depends if you want it on plan or not.

6610 is on an Optus 55 plan for 2 years. Rest are pretty expensive.

6610/7210 are identical with different covers. 6100 doesnt have FM radio but does included a Lithium-Polymer battery and a WAP wallet feature (Joy).

7250 has all of the above and built in camera. I have a 7250, no problems with it yet and battery life is good.

hey i was actually browsing the internet looking at buying one of those models when i read this. To renew my optus plan or change to a optus business plan.

im really after a 7250. Just need to work out if i can afford it. i didnt realise the 6610 and 7210 were the same !! thats really interesting.

do you think its worth getting a phone with a camera ??

Its amazing how many little photo moments come up when
you have a camera in the phone be it girls or cars or just
silly stuff. I have had a lot of fun with the camera with both
my 7650 and my new 7250. The latter takes better pictures
and the battery life is fantastic even when listening to the
radio with it for ages. Only downfall of the 7250 is no bluetooth.

Not like your Bluetooth worked anyway :)

Dogo, business plans have much better rates, PM me if u want to chat about it (I work for optus).

yeh the 6610/7210 is just a big marketing ploy. Same phone, different target markets. Quite clever if you ask me. Simple case change and people think its a whole new model...

The latter [7250] takes better pictures

What is the resolution like on those things?? Are we talking Mega Pixels here or are they only small photos like the size of our avatars??

I think the resolution is about 640x480 so definitely not a hi-resolution
picture. What I meant was the 7650 you needed good light to get a
decent picture so most of my nocturnal pictures at clubs never turned
out. The 7250 looks to either have a slower exposure or adjusts better
for low light. I am only talking about the standard portrait pictures.
I haven't played with the other picture options like the Night option on
the 7650 as it chews up too much memory. Basically the battery life
on the 7650 was 24hours so it wasn't anywhere close to my requirements.

All good info.
Thought about a photo phone for my next contract (My 3330 runs out of contract in four short months  ). My problem is that the phone companies refer to themselves as carriers and I think that is appropriate :D

Rod

P.S. I'd like to see a site with honest pictures from a photo phone.

30/m w/ T720 is alright. Optus have it on a 55/m atm but phone prices change more then micks hairstyle.

Have you had a good play with the phone? Not a fan of motorola myself.

Ive seen some of the Three stuff. Personally I want to see a bit of market time with the 3g stuff to see if its all its meant to be.

128 x 128 reso on the camera?!
Is that even worth the weight to carry around?
How does that view on a PC screen?
I have a Palm Tungsten T which came with a free camera (plugs into the SD memory slot).
That takes 640 x 480 max res. The quality is not bad, but obviously nowhere near that of a stand-alone digi cam & also could do with a flash.
What is the colour definition like on the 7250?
Mine can be a bit brown/grey in colour, depending on the amount of available light.

Put it into perspective Asterix, the phone itself has a relatively small screen so you dont need a huge resolution to make the photo look OK on the phone. Seeing how the phone isnt designed to be used for taking pictures and transfering to pc, they didnt put a big emphasis on photo qualtiy of the camera. Plus looking at the size of the phone, it would be hard to incoporate things like flash or even a larger lens.

I think the nokia has about 4096 colour (its active-matrix as opposed to TFT). Dont quote me on that, i dont really pay attention to the reps when the blab on about their phones.

Qual on a computer is OK. Nothing to write home about but it definetley portrays the original image to the viewer easily enough. The phone is very suseptable to light conditions so u need good light to take a good picture. Nothing a flash wouldnt fix.

You don't want much considering the phones you picked out.
Best of luck. When you find the truck they fall off of let us know.

Yeah I know Jynx. It is a smaller screen, so not that bad. Although I saw a pic sent from a 7250 to another colour screen nokia & the person was recognisable, but not that crisp.
Personally ( & this is just my opinion), I'd wait for the technology to eveolve a bit more.

Astina,
How much did you end up paying for the 6610 and camera ??

Asterix,
The 7250 is a real fun phone. Agree the camera is only a gimmick
camera but its still fun to take pictures of girls at the pub or of
a car on the street when all you want to do is show a friend. By the
time my plan on this finishes 3G will be properly rolled out and worth
while so I think the 7250 is a great phone to get me by till then.

Hahahaha, there was a thing on the news the other night about certain venues [ie local swimming pools, pubs, etc.] outlawing the use of digital cameras in mobiles as they think perverts would use them for taking pics for sexual use..... especially the swimming pool one.. Some gay bloke could come along and start taking pics for personal and widespread use! Nasty.... Fair enough though..

Just my 2 cents :? :?

/me remembers mals events with his camera phone at a strip club which shall not be named.

By the way, the camera you can get for the Nokia 6610 retails at $160 and is an absolute waste of money. The pictures are shocking. I recommend trying before buying and if your happy with the photo quality then its your money :)

Be interested in price if you dont mind.

astina

yeah the phone cost me $550 and the camera was $160.
the picture isnt that great but they are reconisable maybee not worth the money but still a bit of fun.
i woulnt mind checking out the picture on something with a built in camera though just to compare the quality

mrpayner

Geez, for 160 bucks you'd be better off splashing out a few extra $$$ for a 2MP digital camera.... Granted it's a slightly bulkier package but the pics will be better! :? :?
