I think I have seen this same engine in its latest form, as I recall 1000 horsies not a paltry 800.
see if I can find the pic but it is the ugliest car ever, the intercoller would be roughly 1 square meter,

It's been dropped into a Gemini, poor mazda engine... :p

This page LINK (http://www.offroadvw.net/bajawes/V6_baja/KLZE_cars/index.htm) has pics of a nice Twin Turbo KL Powered 1966 HR Holden Ute :D

The way the intercooler piping is hidden is cute.

...shame that it looks stupid hanging out the front like that!

Power is power. I dont understand what everyone seems to gave against FI, or why people consider it to be cheating.

it is not as reliable or as abusable, IMHO,

ie which car is gunna be putting out pace after 10 years of semi neglect

a 5.0l V8 or a worked 2.5L TT

What you talking about the Gen 3 V8s cant even last last a couple of years without piston slapping against the sides of the block. But you take a GTX-GTR engine coming out of 1990-92 car. You can drop it into Astina or Laser bang on a bigger turbo and be pumping out 160KW-200kw at the wheels for years.

I dont consider it cheating Its just A completely different thing with all motor
Thats why its called All Motor
Its Apples and Oranges and one day you will realise that
As you can see its quite easy to extract a ****load of power from a boosted KL
If I boosted mine then it would be as well
So what do you want me to do Beat you with a non assisted KL or would you prefer I attach a snail and flog your little white arse with it
Either way mate you will only ever see the rear end of my car
Soon ;)
And just for thew record All Motor is its own category in Sport Compact

My opinion of V8s lasting longer in simply because they are less techy than a turbo,

the old KISS maxim, Keep it simple stupid,
ie less moving parts less things that can fark up,

For example a turbo needs better cool down, warm up. IF you take the care it is not an issue of course.

Not a hard and fast rule but generally I stand by what I said.

And Just for the record FI is not cheating, it is simply a different route.

Like Land barge Vs pocket rocket, different strokes differenty folks.

I personally wouldn't want a 4+ litre anything (with under 10 cyclinders) but they do have advantages.

well actually, the reason most V8's in terms of old american pushrod things being the way they are is, it's like oyu said KISS but also the main issue. MORE CUBIC INCHES TO MAKE MORE POWER.
Now this is so you make less stress engine.

Example is you get a 200HP 1.8L 4 clyinder and drive it day in day for 150,000km's
Get your old school push rod 3.8L V6 making 200HP do the same, do normal maintance to them normal factory specs etc. I garrentee you a the 3.8L V6 still has close to factory comp when it left - don't use any more oil then when it left factory.
Wear lines and worn bearings NAH.
Open oyur hi -tech hi rev four, it woudl have lost a bit of compression bearings just showing the signs of wear.

Old school V8's actually don't last longer once someone starts to play.
I've seen many fail and go up in smoke. 90% of all motors will go along just fine as long as there are tuned well and keep good clean oil and fuel.
