Firstly, I am not sure where to post this, so here goes:
My rear window defogger doesn’t work, which is a real piss off on a cold morning. It wasn't until some dude posted up the wiring diagrams that I realised the lantis even has a trunk light. From the wiring diagram, I have realised that the defogger and the trunk light are probably on the same line or something and this theory is confirmed as neither of mine work.
Anyways wondering if people know how to fix or what the problem is? The wiring diagram also talk about the cigarette lighter, mine charges my phone fine, because this works I assume it is not a fuse issue bringing down the whole line?
Cheers
Matt

Wow,
You have three triggers for a good fault, I'm lookin' at the wiring manual and I'll see if there is a reason.

There is a connector in the drivers kick pannel that connects the Trunk light and the rear defogger, it's a plug with 5 connections.

Blue/red
Black Blue
Lots of luck.

I've got the same problem, although both the ciggie lighter (or as I now call it: The Coffe Pot Plug 8) ) and the trunk light both work. But, no rear demister/defogger/whatever. I just haven't had the time to work it out.

Cheers Rod, you are onto something. Any idea whereabouts the plug is, because I just pulled apart half the drivers foot well/steering wheel compartment and can't find a 5 connection plug? Plus, I got sticky **** on my hand and thought it was grease, pulled it out 10mins later and my entire hand was red

I just looked in the book again  I was looking at the protege page
I'll scan the relevant pages and e-mail 'em too you. PM me with an address if you want me to do this.
Looking at the diagrams I got off Dan, there are 2 possibilites.
1) The 20A fuse has blown. Should be in the fuse box on the driver side. Marked R.DEFOG i believe.
2) The filament has lost its ground connection. Have a look at the gold track on the rear glass and see if it is severed anywhere.
Id lean towards the fuse more then anything.
The trunk light is on a seperate circuit so should be unrelated to the rear defogger failing. If it dosnt work then check the bulb. I doubt its the fuse as im pretty sure the trunk light is connected to the same 10A fuse as the cabin lighting. So if you have no cabin lighting as well then check the fuse.
Im assuming you know how to check if a light bulb is rubbish...
Also for MrShadow, the ciggie lighter is on a seperate circuit again. It is connected to the 15A fuse which also doubles as your radio fuse.
Unless you have been playing around with the wiring under the kick panel, plugs are generally not the source of a problem. The only thing under the kick panel which can go are the relays and these are realtively rare occurances.

Will look into the fuses, JynX, but it is a little harder for me to figure out which fuse does what because its all in Japense. Well I will just start pulling out all the 20amp fuses then :D

Kewl, thanks!
Yeah just pull em all out and check each one is intact.

I've sent you some pages from the wiring diagram, hope they help.
Also scanned the fusebox cover (In english)

Do you have the standard heater controlls or climate control?

Cheers Rod, you da man!
None of my fuses were blown, so buggered if I know :? I have just got the email now, so I will look into it on the weekend.

I like the climate control and almost have it fully opperational :D
While you're looking around could you make some notes for me, in the back of the fuse box a small white plastic box plugs in and in the back of that is a black plug. Could you note the colours and their position and get back to me :D
