Hey guys. just went for a drive and the gear changes were getting progressivly harder. to the point i was unable to move the stick into the next gear.
Have i burnt or worn my clutch out? or is it something else?
if it is the clutch. should i go a heavier duty sports clutch if there is such a thing? how much would this cost me???
thanx fellas.
Brad.

If you can select gears OK when the motor is off then it may be clutch
but I would also expect clunking when changing as the gearbox is not
totally disengaged from the motor. If you cant change gears when motor
is off then you got gearbox problems.

I can change gears when engine is off.. that's how i got it home. I was out getting some DVD's and i had to stop at a roundabout... i turned engine off... was able to get it into 2nd turn engine on... and it would start up in 2nd gear and i was able to take off... very werid feeling starting engine up in gear and taking off in second... i would get a gear crunching sound when i have the clutch in and i'd try force it into gear. I stopped that after 1 go... couldn't imagine it doing any good for car.

Sounds like clutch then. Best to check the fluids and give
it a bleed before taking the large step of dropping the box
and putting in a new clutch. I sent Lantis/Tony a message
with all the HD clutch part numbers so if you want them he
can supply.

Do you have any fluid stains under your car (ignore water from the A/C) and how does the brake fluid look?
F = Fine
E = Errr I have a problem :wink:
The brakes and clutch share a resevour, you don't want to complicate a problem.
Does not sound like a flywheel, preasure plate, clutch plate issue. more like a hydrolic thing.
I could be wrong, I've been wrong before and I'm sure will be wrong again :lol: :lol: :lol:
