Hi there. I have just bought a '91 Astina SP and have problems with the standard radio. It is a Philips stereo with full graphic eq. It seems that when the car is hot (engine) the radio won't respond to any changes i make, so if its off i cant turn it on and if its on i can't change station (just vol., bal etc.). Strangely the equaliser (which is separate) will respond, so it leads me to think it is just the radio playing up. Maybe it is a loose connection some where? Anyone else had the same problem? Any help would be great as i dont have the cash to upgrade at the moment. :?

Welcome to our weird little world. Hoe you enjoy your stay. Oh, and watch out for Dan (Ruperwecht). He likes changing signatures and user names, don't you Dan?

Interesting problem. Not too sure it would be a connection problem, if it was, then either the fault would be completly random (which it's not), or it wouldn't work at all. Could be wrong though...

Thanks for that. Might have to pull it out and take it to an audio specialist. The tape player is also stuffed, cant put tapes in!! What a pain. :x

i'd hazard a guess that' it's overheating, as it only does it once the car is warmed up. it could be as simple as lots of dust in the player

but as it wont play tapes, it might be a good idea to upgrade to a new HU :)

Welcome :) oh, and ignore what MrShadow says - he's just bitter ;)

Mmm. The other day i quickly took out a bit of the dash at it was pretty dusty, so something could be shorting. Let you know what happens.

Yeah, thanks to you!

I'd actually agree with Dan on this. I hadn't thought of that, but it sounds plausible. Mebey take it out and give it a good blow out with a vac.
