Never heard of it ??
I have heard of a Roots blower but am sure they are not the same.
A roots blower is a style of supercharger not a turbo.

I just threw it in there for a little amusement.

You could install a 6lbs turbo. The only issues could be that the engine computer will not know about the boost and will not change the ignition map to compensate, retarding the distributor will help but not sure. It works well on some cars but not on others.
I have thought about it my-self, I have a TO25 in the back room. I go to the mechanics and park beside Rupewrechs car sometimes, I am enviuos

Mal where did u pick up the supercharger from?
how many kilo watts is it?

I dont have one mate, it was a comment. I have turbo anyway :D

There was one of the guys in QLD think it was White Pony who tried
adding a Toyota blower to his car but it wouldn't fit without losing the
aircon. Why do you ask anyway ??

Cosmo,
Based on the MX5's there seems to be enough in the fuel maps on the
computer to handle 5psi with the MAF not AFM stock computers.
Would definetely need to be done on a dyno to monitor mixture readings.
You may even be able to push it a little with a boost sensitive adjustable
FPR.

because i was interested in putting more power into the car cause its just a 1.8

I hear you.. Well as I said nobody has been able to make a blower
setup work yet WP was the only person that I know of to really try
but stopped the idea when he had to lose his AC. The 2L Toyota
blowers are around $300-500 but be carefull as you very quickly
get into the price of a BPT motor.

that sucks that u'll lose the a/c from that

Then the option is to try a MX5 blower setup if you want to go that way
but expect to pay around $3-6000.

Cant have everything. I dont have aircon as the intercooler fills in
where the condenser is. Only way around it is the cut into the bar
and have the IC forward like what Tony (Lantis) has.

oh! i didn't realise that you didn't have your aircon either! :o

Yeah Dan when I bought it brand new I got the $28990 Drive away
and opted not to pay over $2k for the aircon which I know I could buy
elsewhere for $1k. 18 months later it was turbo and as you have seen
the IC sits nicely behind the mesh with no cutting to the bar but meant
no chance of installing aircon. I have often considered changing the
position but in 4 years I have never had a problem with Police and those
that need to know, know its turbo :D. I also love the big mouth look
of my front bar its like no-one elses on the forum.

well yes i was quite pissed off wasn't I...buying the intercooler as well ..lol doh .....well id have to loose much more that the a/c too.....my powersteering was to go.....and my extractors would have to be custom made...worth it? um..no.....i think ill leave all the blowing to those homosexual commodores....HMMF! :P

oh btw....ive already got ported and polished head...camwork etc.....am i better off getting a bpt (cost wise) or sticking with my original engine and turboing it...input required! do bpt's come with engine management or should i get aftermarket i am cheap ass remember !!!

There isn't much diff between the GTX and NA head apart from a
small lump in the ports to make the air swirl better in the GTX. If you
have had your head ported the def keep that. What specs are the cams.
Good to ask if they would work in a boosted setup. I would still lean
to a GTX motor as the whole motor is still cheaper than a set of forgies
for the NA which you would need for lower compression. I spose you
could buy cast TX3 pistons local but guessing there still around $400.
So buy the GTX motor and swap the heads over. Sell off your stock
motor for say $400-500 depending on mileage and you got a cheap
turbo motor complete with turbo. You need to buy a GTX ecu and AFM
and a coil. This is where the swings and roundabouts thing starts. I paid
$1150 for the 4 pieces (Motor, ecu, afm, coil) and then paid $500 to wire
it up 4 years ago. I think Tony paid around $1500 for Motor with all wiring including all the 4 bits. He then was able to install it himself so is $150 better off. So depending on your skills its a lose there gain here
scenario you need to work out the best option for you.

Depends on what you wanna do...

My setup that I did get away with was:

Engine Package = $2200
Intercooler & piping = $1400
Bits and pieces = $1000
(Belts, leads, hoses, airfilter, fluids, tools)
Exhaust = $900
Engineering = $550
Gearbox breakage = $1200

Total: $6700

If I had a good budget and a bit moolah I would have done this

Race Engine rebuild on NA = 8k
(Pistons, rods, cams, polish and port
GT28 BB = $1500
Custom Manifold = $1000
Bigger Injectors = $500
Fuel System = $1000
(Pump, lines, Surgetank, hiflow filter)
Ureathane Engine Mounts = $300
Autronic installed and tuned = $2400
Braided water hoses = $600
ARE front mount cooler = $1200
Alluminium piping with HPC on induction side = $1500
3" system off the turbo completely HPC'd= $1800

Dogbox = 5k
Brassbutton clutch = $700
Chrome moly driveshafts = $900

Total: $26500

I might have left a few things out there

btw I did everything myself and the dont have any labour costs in those two figures above
