Aggy pipe with the holes/slits in it wouldn't be the best I guess - kinda like drinking thru a straw with holes cut into the sides? Yes/No?
Also, what is the best diameter for this?
Do u use a black poly material?[/color:post_uid0]

Okay, answers to lots of questions:

Sik - yeah, normally 1 would be better, but at the time i couldnt get the piping that i wanted in a big enough size.

Pr1mo - probably at my place as i'm organising this so you can all go to hell :p

Asterix - I used non-perforated agricultural pipe for my old setup. Not the best, but it works. best diamater is the biggest you can get! but probably no more than 4". I think the stuff i have is about 60mm

Should be enough tubing for 3 cars at [u:post_uid0]least[/u:post_uid0] i'd say

But if someone wants to buy the plumbing corners and pipe then we can give that a go - which would be better for airflow as the sides are smooth.[/color:post_uid0]

On the tubing - 3" PVC and a blowtorch so we can shape it....

Hay dan, just to throw another Q in the pot, where do you plan to run the pipe to?[/color:post_uid0]

Dogo
08-04-2003, 11:03 PM
in the past on the hatches the piping has been run to the bottom corner of the front opening. *In Dan's case he removed his parking lights and ran the pipe to where they used to be , with mesh over the holes.

I want to change my pipes anyway so someone can have mine ( 2 ) if they want.

... And if i manage to find pipe i like! *

But running piping for the HT is easy - there's a readymade hole in the lower grille next to the driving light.

The Hatch is a bit more of a pain, as there's less rooom behind the bumper. As pr1mo doesnt have driving lights, we ran his to in front of the radiator to where the driving light would be. But i you want to cut a hole in the front bumper (a la EZZY) it'll be much easier :;):[/color:post_uid0]

Throw on the BBQ and have a bit of an Astina GT get together for those that can make it.

No excuse required, just a cruise of the Melbourne Mob to Canberra, the Sydney Siders to Canberra, and we'll have the Barbie ready..... and some great photo's, some terrific laughs and a chance for everyone to meet n greet, say g'day and point and drool at the cars.......

Someone might like to bring cable ties or a suitable wire to control the piping inside the guard, as i'm not sure what i've got

warning: i've just getting over a cold so i'm not infectious, but i'm sniffing more than a coke fiend atm

IS the CAI day still happening even though u mite get water sucked into your engine :? (i'm a paranoid one aren't i)

I was just thinking... you guys need a webcam or maybe one of those digital cameras that can take short MPEG movies.. then have video of the day or maybe a live 'HOW TO CAI' uplink... or maybe the cold and flu drugs are just getting to me and i'm just talking nonsense...

Just thought I'd post up some information. With my car, I only noticed small changes after installing the tubing to the air filter. Didn't think it was that big a deal. But, during the course of driving last night I needed to use my air conditioner just to speed up the demisting process. To my very pleasent surprise, the car barely lost any power at all with the air con unning, even when firing into the cabin not up the window. So for this reason and this reason alone, I am very happy with the results obtained from the Melbourne CAI day.

No its definetely meant to be Dull Report... im assuning this means nothing much happened... u know... he make the funny.. HA ha..... ha.

Cant tell you if my CAI did anything cos due to a small leak between my cat and engine pipe im currently the victim of minor power losses... OK so the whole thing sheared off... IT WAS THE EXHAUST MAN I SAY...

Sigh. Be all betterer on Thursday..... Oh and if anyway gets a new exhaust fitted, make sure they put a flex join between the engine pipe and cat or you fate is certainly determined. Damn strong steel....

PUBLIC HEALTH WARNING: Several beers went into the making of this message.

Peace Out.

Well, the 2nd melb CAI day went ok!

It started raining at about 9:30...and didn't stop all day, but there was room in the carport to do any work that needed to be done.

These people turned up:
MrPayner - Adam, with the Sparkle Green 1.8 BA Hatch
SehnKahn - Boyd, with his Hindi
Dogo - Dave, with the Sparkle Green V6 BA Hatch
Fuzzy Dice - Gareth, with the Black N14 Pulsar
Primo - Mikey, with the Noble Green 1.8 BA Hatch
Memphis - Jace, with the White BG Astina SP
Trav - with the filthy Noble Green 1.8 BA Hatch

Missing in Action:
CiTyEnd - Noble Green 1.8 BA Hardtop
oh, and my good health. bah!

Things that actually got done:
CAI to MrPayners car
CAI to SehnKahns car

doing Boyds was amusing - with Trav and I just telling Boyd to 'walk away and don't look back!' as we removed his radiator...

I think the oldie was doing 60 in a 100 zone. My mate Dave pulled the same move in a mark II Cortina when it was one lane, he did this in the drainage ditch (pre '93).
I need to introduce you to the Cosmo. It can pass in three indicator blinks, one behind, one beside and one infront :D :D :D

HAHA!!  Good one Trav! Even better one though Bro!

I'm making "enquiries" at the moment. How's this for rich, the dude at Bob Jane here in the Rat wanted to charge me $740 for K-Mac springs , but only $350 for King Springs.

Then! He was telling me that K-Mac are harder sprung than Kings [I had heard the opposite]. Plus! He also wanted to charge me $2040 for ROH Fury [Shadow Chrome] and EagleF1 tyres....... Wholly crap! I polietly declined the offer and hung up....

I can get the K-Macs for $330 direct from them, and unless anyone here has a spring compressor it's gonna cost me $150 to put them in. I take it that you [i]do actually need a compressor to put them in.....I cast my mind back to those Jumbo springs that I bought last year and the guy just placing them in there...... :o . Nasty.
