View Full Version : Genie Header for SP20
I just found out that Genie makes extractors for the SP20. They are available now and cost $440. Does anyone have info about these headers. Do you think they would be worth getting. Apparently they have both O2 sensors built into the header.

Interesting.... soomn there will actually be a choice then.
Will be looking at that just as soon as I find time to get the short throw shifter in at last.
Time is the freaking enemy......
I have some new info about the Genie headers for the SP20. Apparently the headers aren't 'Genie'. The company that makes Genie headers also make another brand call 'Wild(catz?). The only difference between the genie and the wild is that the genie is mandrel bent while the wild are press bent, everything else is the same. The headers for the SP20 are the Wild brand, which means that they are not mandrel bent. I got all this info straight from the people that make Genie and Wild Headers. They also said that they have gotten the sensor placements 100%. He also said that there isn't much difference in the mandrel bent header compared to a press bent header.
So what does everyone think, is there much difference between the mandrel and press bending.
adelaidesp20, do you know if the Pacemaker header will be mandrel bent or press bent. Also, do you know if they will be offering it in a polished(stainless steel?) finish.
Thanks,

Mandrel bent is much better as far as I am concerned. Much.
Press bending means the tubes are not uniform opening through the length, esp at the bends, can't be a good thing......

Pace headers use cone technology so the the pipes fit over each other minimising air flow similiar to mandrel bend. I agree that Mandrel bend is much better than a pressed bend but you pay for what you get.
In regards to the "metal", pace use mild steel as it is easier to work with.
Though a friend with a Commodre SV8 has been looking around sourcing headers for his car and apparently he has been told that stainless steel produce a tiny amount of sweating which speed up the corosion of the catalaytic converters. Maybe someone out there has heard of this ???
As mentioned previously the yellow beast is being dropped off tomorrow for final fitting of a production set headers.
Will post when it is picked up.

The one rumor I have heard is that Stainless steel Forges itself under heat
It heats up and cools down which causes the metal to go brittle so Stainless steel might not last longer as the wat ppl advertise it.
I don't get what you mean by "cone technology". I'm guessing then the headers are not conventional mandrel bent.

Hiya TDK.
When I pick up the car either tomorrow or Wednesday, I'll ask Mike if I have their permission to scan a pamphlet and email to anyone who is interested on how cone technology works.
I'll also ask Mike for an indication on price for their headers.
Your a champ adelaidesp20. Can you also find out when the rest of us will be able to get a set.
Thanks,
TDK
