BGs' 1.8L BP manual/auto : Front $45, Rear $50, RH (drivers side of engine) $65, LH (top of gearbox) $65.

just been looking can also get the cross member insulators as well for the BG.

depending on if yours are broken or not, you would notice a difference im pretty sure.

bourbon

just looking it up, is the protege mounts the same? also is it 1.8L (FPD) or 2.0L (FS)

chipa

Astina SP20 so the 2.0L. 03 model if that helps. Not sure if the sedan has the same mounts but I'd guess they would be the same.

bourbon

ok the left hand one (im guessing you got manual as well :p) would be about $95, and a right hand one (youll have to reuse your bracket, but auto one has bracket so if you find out if there the same let me know [which they do look the same from the picture] would be the same price. and one with the bracket (suppesebdly auto) is $115.

just realized can also get the eunos 30x K8 mounts and also eunos 500 (guessin same as the V6 from the BA).

Hey Bourbonerie, Why don't you just catologue all the prices for all the mounts for each car and list them? Most commonly replaced engine mounts on the BJ are the front and driver's side incidently.

Hmmm damn thats tempting.. $95 for the drivers side! Hows them apples Gav?? How much to get them shipped to Albury (2640) ?

chicaboo
11-11-2006, 08:38 PM
Mate, them apples are so good that Eve would pluck them from your hand as if they were from the Tree of Knowledge! :p Even if you have to pay $115 for the auto one so as to get the bracket, cause I don't know if you can separate the bracket so easily?

chipa

Not sure about the bracket, will have a look at the mount to check later on when I'm not so hung over.

bourbon

Unless your engine mounts are different/better, I have no reason to experiment any further than I have. But I can use the Stony to take a photo of the whatsit sheet and send it to Chiparoo.

I just want to get a cheaper alternative to OE so I can install the AWM inserts.

Orion
13-11-2006, 05:10 PM
Ditto on the cheaper alternative to OEM side mounts. I have a torn drivers-side engine mount but I am waiting on my AWR sidemount inserts before I go out and get a new one. Might be worth getting these as a replacement instead of $250 from Mazda dealer.

chip ill take a photo of the page tonight and see how it turns out, no guarantees...

**edited list** - updated... bj 1.8L and 2.0L are the same mounts all round.

also chip the pic i got was blury as all, and sent to gav, he said would prob have to be one with bracket...

Orion

Bourbon and Gav,

Do you see any problems with putting the AWR side mount inserts into these mounts? If not, then sign me up for a drivers side (rh) side mount for a BJ-II 2.0L and let me know some arrangements for payment and pickup. Cheers.

bourbon

ok gav hasnt tried these, but if you wanna be first to try it you can be, if its wrong youll get your money back...where in brissy are you too?

Looking at the blurry piccies Boubonerie sent me, I don't see why not. I think they have just reverse engineered the oem mount... Oh, the AWR inserts are soft enough to be rather forgiving anyway. :) Otherwise we just cut **** off until it works! :p

Go Orion! Makes it easier with a local test dummy! Bit better than one 1300 k's away.

Orion
27-11-2006, 10:38 AM
Ok guys, Im happy to be the test dummy ;) for the passenger side mount and we can also see how easily the AWR inserts will fit into it. I live in Taringa but am not too fussed if I have to travel to someone elses garage for the testing / install.

bourbs, so you know - the 1.6 will take the front and rear mounts, as well as the gearbox mounts with no probs

the 1.6 has totally different drivers side mount though

gav and orion played around with the drivers side mount the other day and its the wrong one (with the bracket type), the bracket was too long or something...so what im gonna do is see the mechanics and talk to the suppliers to find out how to remove and press in the bracket. from what gav was sayin the SP20 auto mount (with bracket) will fit the 1.8L auto + manual... will get back to you guys about this... and thanx orion for trying it out...will hopefully be sorted in the next few days.

Hey Nathan, no worries about testing this gear out. As you said just need to find a someone who can take the bracket out of the old mount and put it into the replacement. Will you be ordering a manual replacement mount (i.e. one without the a bracket) to swap with the one I have at the moment?

Chipa, these mounts will also take the AWR side mount insert pieces as well. Although you might want to talk to Gav about the ones he has picked up, they look fairly decent too.

bourbon
05-12-2006, 01:27 PM
just talked to the mechanics, they can do it, and they said most mechanics should be able to do it... :D

orion i can order this other one if you want, ill just alocate the money for origional one to new one, and i think there will be a bit of change to give you too...let me know if ya want me to go ahead...

Hey Bonbon, can you amend the BJ description on the front page to reflect that the auto w/- bracket will only suit F series gearboxes, ie: SP20 auto and all BJ 1.8s...

Gav.

yes they may fit, but most likely not the right one...they have different brackets on the top of them...doesnt bother me if you got your hands dirty or not, they make certain mounts for different cars for certain reasons, if it needs different brackets keep to the origional... im not sayin your wrong or right, just sayin they are different...

Hey bourbon. Can you please order the other mount (manual) to swap with the auto one that I have at the moment? I think the manual mount was about $20 cheaper but whatever ..... still better than $240 from Mazda :D

I got four little goodies in the mail today (RR inserts), just gotta work out which other bits I need to replace, then off I go!

And let us know who can press the old bracket out and then rejoin it to the new one at Slacks Creek. Cos I will have to drive Darryl's new mount over to get that done, or maybe we just remove the mount out front of the shop? It's not that hard...

**UPDATE** also price change now on the manuals, price has gone up. new price $115...sorry guys...Is that price rise for the fee to have the old bracket pressed out and put into the new mount?

nah, this is just a price, i called up supplier today and the price was wrong in the book  sorry bout that guys.... damned getting quoted wrong prices from suppliers always makes us look bad...
