Hi Guys,

Just wondering what you think the following 1997 astina hatch would be worth:

-around 60,000 kms
-cd player
-standard alloy wheels
-alarm/immobiliser
-good condition on exterior (only small, minor scratches if any)
-Great condition inside
-airbag
-rego

everythings standard with no modifications and no spoiler

Do you think it would be worth $12500? Less or more? These are the features I would want...

Are the 2L V6 all that much better? The only differences I know about is that the 2L has ABS, fog lights, 2 airbags... Is the 1.8 L pretty comparable?

Thanks,

BAs seem to be worth around 10k and under these days. If the one you're looking at has only got 60,000kms on it, then that's pretty rare - the average Kms is about 200,000 these days. The V6 is a better car - bigger wheels/bigger brakes/airbags/foglights over the 1.8

well it's worth as much as you're willing to pay for it.
as rupe has said they usually go for under 10k, but I know of a friend who brought a 95 1.8l a couple of months ago for about 12k, she was willing to pay this much cause it was exactaly what she wanted.

good luck with your search

60,000 is way low. Id begin to question how legit the car is, especially on a car that is at least 8/9yrs old. Keep in mind that the average vehicle does 15,000km per year. So total up the average for how old the car is. If the actual car is reasonably close to the average then it should be legit. majority of decent astinas r between 7-9 grand. Shouldn't be to hard to find a decent hatch as they are like 5 times more common than the hardtop.

Hi,
Yeah I guess I can't really expect to pay less than $10,000 if the Km's are really low.
It seems that even though the 2L ones are a lot better they dont sell much more than the 1.8L second hand. I checked their price when they were new, and the 2L sold for around $39,000, whereas the 1.8L was $29,000.

If the car has log books that are stamped, the kms should be legit shouldn't it?

Thanks

i dont reckon the v6's are heaps better. i do know that a v6 with big k's is alot harder to maintain than an I4. arguebly an I4 is a better base for modification if your thinking of going down that track

ive also heard that the v6 uses a fair bit more petrol. Someone please correct me if im wrong

It does use more petrol, but only if you drive it hard. And increased performance always has a downside.

the kW diffrence isnt that great between the two i just think the V6 has more torque

12kw is still 12 kw. But yeah, it's mostly the torque, even though it's only 23Nm extra.

then theres the weight diffrence. personally id only get a v6 if i couldnt drive manual.

Most BAs go for 'bout $7k to $9k. They have gotten to the age where V6 or I4, Manual or Auto, H/top or hatch doesn't make any difference to the price.
$10k would be the limit for a good one without mods, $11k at a push.

BTW No BAs came in dark blue, it's all Noble Green.

Better to check the compliance plates and get the code. It stops all the guesses
