Hey all,

I got a 92 SP, its burning oil and i think that compression might be going aswell. Hmmm. I was looking at buying a new motor for it because i am really happy with the car.

Just wondering what motor fits in it, apart from the original 1.8 DOHC. I am looking at sticking just a normal DOHC straight back in it, but if there is a better NON TURBO motor for around 1k, i would be interested.

Please advise,

Cheers

Dan

Not for that price range sorry mate. Even if you could buy a motor for that (eg V6) you'd still have to do something about engine management.

Just pick up a drop-in replacement (BG Mazda or KF/KH laser) from someone who's done a turbo conversion. Likely to be about 500-800 for a compelte motor in good condition.

There's not much else that bolts in a gives more power without costing a lot more!

yeah, i would definatley go for a tina motor over the KH/F Ford motor. Thanks for the advice fellas. Do you have anyone who would have these motors or anyone that done a conversion?

Cheers

Well it's not really a 'conversion', as you'd be putting the same motor back in. all you'd be paying for is the motor and installation.

But try ringing a few of the companies in this thread

89sp1.8 or dave is in the middle of doing a BPT conversion you'd have to speak to him if he's selling his old BP motor
