View Full Version : Ba mazda astina sedatch/hadan - Beening thinking about it 4 a while.....
guys,
i have been thinking about this for a while.
some of yous may think.... wtf is sedatch/hadan?
well, we all know that nissan silvia and 180sx has interchangable front ends (sileighty = silvia front end and 180sx back or onevia = 180sx front end and silvia back). so......
looking at the astinas, the engine bay is the same, so i've assuem the front end between the sedan and hatch are interchangeable (with minor mods for the bottom of a-pillar and some headlight adjustments, etc).
so is anyone interested?[/color:post_uid0]

i've been thinking about this (not to do, but the idea of it) for a while!
would be a very cool idea to put the hatch front on a sedan. always meant to photoshop that, but never got around to it... :)[/color:post_uid0]
okay, new task for dan this week = photoshop a sedatch & a hatan :p[/color:post_uid0]

what about the new sp20's front on an older astina (91 SP)?? arnt the engine bays relatively similar?? i think the pop up lights would cause some problems, but they work aroud that on the silvia to 180 mod. im not sure but i think it would look alrite, maybe a bit deep, but very individual. also i guess the front cut of the sp20 would be too expensive to make the conversion worthwhile. not 2 sure. ???[/color:post_uid0]

Hey guys, i just did a really quick photoshop combine of rupewrecht's hardtop & David Chongs hatch (from the feature cars list) i need to work on the colour to try match them both.. and i don't think i have the scale of the 2 pics quite right... but i'm reasonably happy considering the hatch was @ an awkwardish angle.
only one problem.... i don't know how to get the pic onto here.

I ran my car up the ass of a falcon a couple months ago. when i had it in for repairs, mazda sent the '94' hatch parts instead the ones for the sedan. I almost asked the smash dudes to try and get the hatch front onto it anyway. =)
could someone tell me away of getting my hard-hatch pic on here?[/color:post_uid0]

Thanx Dan for posting that and thanx for offering to put it up 'sik astina'
i need to work on the lighting of the front.
So is this actually possible to have done? wat sort of work is involved?
If only it was as easy as photoshop.
i'd like to see some other guys versions from photoshop. i mite try do one that doen't use a body kit for the front, just the standard hatch bumper.
Maybe i'll try put the sedan front on the hatch...

I have looked at it before.. the guards would bolt straight on.. the hard top's guard finishes in a different spot to the hatch
It could be done I reckon! just need to sort out that problem...[/color:post_uid0]
a fibreglass adaptor/plate/joint will have to be made to cover that section.
now, the new problem.... who is willing to give it a go?[/color:post_uid0]

hey a bit off the topic but still kinda related i guess...
is it possiple to convert the hardtop into a hatch? or like a liftback with it's current shape? like the rear glass lifts up with the booth lid.... as the opening to the hardtop isn't that big at all.... if I'm confusing ya, then I mean like the old intergra gsi.... u think it's possiple?[/color:post_uid0]
anything can be done, but compare to the front end conversion, there will be alot more work required. dont think its worth it (time/effort/$$).[/color:post_uid0]

heres another idea,
introducting the all new mazda astina three two thirty-three X
one dan might actually concider doing :)
the taillights now match the headlights too. all ude need are these supra style lights for the 30X and ude have one very diffrent beast
a change to a bit more sporty, looks like nothing else on the road

Have a look at that 30X pic where the number plate goes [i know that its been photoshopped and it's the boot lift] but imagine a motorised flap in there for that James Bond style accessory....
Oil...... * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *[to make your persuers lose control :p *]
Parachute..... * * * * * * * * * *[you turbo junkies! *:D ]
Another number plate.... * *[what cops!! * ]
The 'enhancement' factor is limitless
It would work well for both hardtop and hatch!!
