View Full Version : What women can do...
Well my car was minding its own business on the street and this lady decided it should not be there and reversed into it.
Not heaps of damage but enough to be annoying. Looks like I wont have to buy my own headlight now.... :)

So how did it smash the headlight without pretty much damaging anything else :?

The bumper is made out of ABS plastic flexes rather then smashing

DOh! :(
interesting that the headlight broke, but not the indicator  :(
Yeh i had a prang on that side a couple of months ago... that was me playing chicken with a concrete pole.
My street has a rather steep incline and the lady was driving a Ford Falcon stationwagon, it looks like she hit the bumper and slid up into the light... pretty low impact hit.
Insurance will make it all better.

Maybe more damage there than you think....the lack of panel gap between guard and bonnet right at the front isn't a good sign... something underneath could have absorbed a bit of impact.
How much did the panel shop quote?
Edited due to me not reading original post (oh look pics!)

ROFL. jim is a talented boy
I didnt ask em when I was at the smashy as im not paying for the repair... however, according to NRMA policy, both the headlight and the bumper have to be replaced new as the car is > 5 yrs old and there is some slight damage to the panel (its been nosed in slightly from the impact)
No visable damage to the radiator support which is a bummer cos the guy reckons I could have got my condenser replaced (A/C is currently offline due to a hole in the condenser... on my to fix list).
Juding on ozeparts prices for gen. mazda stuff:
Headlight $500
Front Bumper $500
Labour: $200-300
Paint: $300-500
So its roughly around the $1500 mark.

Jim when u take the car to get fixed ask if u can have your old bumper.
Apparently they send it off to some place so no go on keeping the old one.
I suggested using a Sledge and the guy looked at me funny!

So its roughly around the $1500 mark.
When a lady nudged me in the rear it cracked the bumper under the fold at the very bottom [not visibly noticable till you got down on knees], she bent a support panel underneath as well and that cost $1600 all up... don't think she was a happy girl after that...
