I put the strut bar on last night as well and it is certainly more direct on the tighter corners that's for sure.... :D
Still loving it..

Yes i do... it went in with the springs.. :)
I've got a small creak in the rear springs, particularly the drivers side so over the weekend I'm going to remove the whole boot lining to make sure the nuts on top of the struts are tight... Otherwise I might have to get some of the coil insulator from whiteline that supposedly silences noisy coils.. They reckon it's caused because the coils are progressive at the rear.. We'll see..

Adam, whats the ride like? Of course its going to be hard, but is it compliant at all? Or feel every little bump, like in mine. Just wondering; my bro is looking to do the same (also sparkle green 8) )

Hey Brad, sorry, i must have missed this post.. Yeh mate.. the ride is quite nice, not too harsh at all.. The rear springs are progressive so i've found t hat it doesn't twitch like it used to around corners plus with the addition of the rear sway really tightens things up..
Thanks Chris for the comment.. All I gotta do now like Jim said is get rid of the pea shooter.. Next few weeks..

Actually, I should add also that now that I have it lowered I'm finding that the side of the bolt pictured below is hitting the passenger side of the front sway bar..
Is it safe to cut off the un-threaded part??

Cut it, I can't see you needing to remove that nut :P .
The shape looks as though its designed to aid the assembly on the production line. If the sub frame needs to come out then the nut removal will help in its replacement.
If the subframe needs to come out then that one bolt will be the least of your concern

Maybe its not the nut and bolt that is the problem.. maybe you need new replacement rubbers on the sway bar
mrpayner
11-08-2003, 01:17 PM
Well, funny you should mention it.. When I had the springs put in it was doing the same thing.. we finally found that the bolt was indeed hitting the sway bar and I don't kwow what he did but he must have moved the sway bar slightly.. Obviously it's moved back to where it was...
With new rubbers is it likely to stay more in position.. ie away from the sway bar? I've read the forums on the Netherlands and they mentioned this bolt hitting the sway as well. Apparently they just cut it off..

hmm thats interesting... I cant say for sure what new rubbers would do but I am sure it would prevent excess flexing...

Please don't use rubber, Nolothane will bolster the front sway and be lots cheaper than OEM.

or Nolathane, even :)
mrpayner
13-08-2003, 12:41 PM
so I have one of 2 options...
- get new Nolathane bits..
- chop off the bottom of the bolt then sing and dance "Hooray for silence!"
Hhmmmm. toughy! :D

Adam, after you had the springs installed, did you have to have any sort of realignment? (what was the cost of install too?) Im keen to get some whiteline springs, as from what I can tell they seem to be the lowest for the BG, and the fact that adding the rest of the whiteline stuff later on would be better (sways, strut etc)

Yeah, he had a complete wheel alignment check done

Dude.. sorry I didn't see this post sooner.. I got it all installed at The Tyre Factory at Sunshine.. I got a re-alignment done too as my brother said.. It would be best to add a rear sway bar at the least to the BG as it will certainly help reduce the body roll.. works a treat!

I had my whiteline rear bar fitted at lunchtime. I like it and it is far and away better than the stock, but it is a little too firm for my liking. I will now tickle the front and try to find a compromise. On tight turns it now picks-up the inside front wheel causing a traction problem.
On the bright side I can corner faster and more comfortably with less noise from the tyres;)
