Hi Guys,
Well, both myself and my astina made it back from Melbourne in one piece... damn it was a long drive, but definitely worth it!
Two of my club members blew their motors over the course of the weekend, but they'll be back with better motors for upcoming shows.
I took the car on the dyno and at the end of the show I won first in "Front wheel drive forced induction" with 135.7kw@wheels, with the standard VJ20. I was pretty impressed. Was good to see my bro's street tune last week made a nice difference.
I met up with a few people from AstinaGT, which was nice meeting and catching up with you guys! Thanks for making an appearance!
Overall Melbourne Autosalon and Melbourne in general was great. I hate driving next to those bloody trams though! They freak me out!!!

its retarded!
Who in their right mind came up with the silly idea of..
"hey... why don't we drive all the way to the left lane, queue across an intersection, and wait for heaps of traffic to pass before turning right over 4 lanes!! Yeah, great idea"
lol hehehe, guess its just a Melbourne thing hehe.. was funny seeing how it comes so natually to the locals. I just did it Sydney style.. right lane, right turn! LOL

Hey Dave,
I was trying to find out the other competitors I was up against but none of the autosalon officials were talking!! Even my good mate Mark who's a judge! Ah well. Guess they have to keep things quiet until the presentations.

I think the idea is that you dont get in the way - it lets traffic move freely through the city. If you were in the right lane, normally you'll be sitting there watching the cars drive by anyway, waiting for a space ( which probably wouldnt come until the light turned red anyway )
The hook turn is ok but the annoying thing is knowing which corners are a hook and which aren't - you have to know ahead of time so that you're in the correct lane.

Dave, nah it's because of the trams mate, so you don't queue across tracks preventing trams from moving through.
Doesn't seem to matter in Melbourne anymore though, they'll probably come off the tracks and come after you anyways (recent derailment in Collins St, taking out of all things - a Mazda (was a 3 though).

Hey Rod,
I might go to Adelaide, depends on how many guys from our club are interested. What day/s will you be in the gong? Would be good to catch up!
Ahh, I see where you guys are coming from with the making room for the trams with the hook turns. I still don't like em tho!
Also, whats with all the guys with crazy arse hairstyles in Melbourne??? funny sh#t!

I don't like them and I've been driving in Melb for over ?? years. Now they're in South Melb as well
Best bet is to avoid those areas when you can or plan your trip around them. I.E. Hume Hwy, right turn onto the ring road, left onto the Westgate, take the Montague St turn off and follow it until you're at Jeffs' Shed. Easy :p

Hook turns are the least of your worries when you drive in Melbourne...
Congrats on the result with your car, really peeved that I couldnt make it down there again this yr (missed it last year as well).

Cosmo-dude, I'll definitely take your advice and avoid them next time I'm down in Melbourne for semi-finals.
