All,
I am due for a new clutch and have some questions for those that have already had clutches replaced.

1) Cost wise, I have been quoted $600.00 by Mazda, $575 by local reliable garage, how does this compare elsewhere (Work included new G-Box oil, machining flywheel etc, oh and the new clutch.)

2) Has anyone upgraded their clutch, if so, what to and approx cost. How did it effect the drivability, esp in traffic.

3) What is the longevity of the original clutch. I have 120,000km on mine ('98 BA), but I double clutch and blip on every downshift so I expect a little more wear and less life. (BTW I know double clutching is unneccessary with today's gearboxes but it was a habit I picked up in an old gemini, and it does sound funky!)

Yeah, I would have expected a price somewhere around that mark to get it done including parts but I haven't had one done before so can't really comment.

I've got 133,000k on my V6 and have been doing a lot of towing in the last 60,000k and haven't got any signs of wear but wouldn't have thought that it was too far off - maybe 20-30,000 away.

Welcome to the forums by the way! Enjoy! :D

Last time I blew my gearbox which required me to replace
the clutch again as it got all gearbox oil on it, I paid.

$250 remove and re-install gearbox.
$330 Daiken 730kg pressure plate full face organic HD clutch.
$75 Synthetic oil.
$45 Machine Flywheel.

regards

Mal
