I am about to lower my Sp20 on SP23 Rims(04 - 06 model) and i want to drop it 2 inches or so. Am i able to keep the standard tyre 205/50/17 profile without having any scrubing? If so what what suggestions do you have to prevent scrubing.

Thanks for ur help.

205/50/17 is far from standard profile! You are almost 17mm over standard circumference at the moment, and you are defectable (in QLD atleast). You are allowed to go +15mm (in QLD) on your tyre's circumference, and that will be enough to put your speedo out, as the SP20 doesn't under-read that much and is reasonably spot on... Read your tyre plaquard and run your options against this nice little tool: http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

If you have a hatch, send a PM to "Orion" as he has Eibach springs that are new and unused, and that are better than any local spring manufacturer can make (Hello King Springs)...

If he is referring to the standard tyre for the sp20, isn't that a 205/50/16????

Not a small oversight when requesting help, as it changes the response he gets.

standard SP20 tyre size is 195/50/16 and SP23 tyre size is 205/50/17

standard SP20 tyre size is 195/50/16 and SP23 tyre size is 205/50/17OK, but that is gonna be 17mm over. So if you follow the link to the tyre size calculator in my 1st post, you can look at various tyre sizes and find what works in the load rating you need for the SP20 and stay legal. :)
