Boy oh boy, where to begin. My mum arrived form overseas on a visit a week ago, only to suffer a stroke the day after she got here, rushed her to POW emergency, it's been nearly a week and shes expected to make a full recovery.
Last night i get a phone call from my Aunt that my uncles collapsed and she needs help, Living in a flat bellow i ran upstairs in about 5 secs, found my uncle collapsed on the floor and my aunt panicking, called the ambos and gave him cpr.
Ambo arrived 7 mins later by which time i'd got him breathing again, whilst helping them load him into the ambulance, the driver asked me if i knew the driver of the blue astina on the street whos doors he had just smashed into? I looked at my baby, laughed and told him it's mine, he looked reasonably chuffed, then announced "well, that'll help with the paper work".
Then he points at my work van parked behind my car, with it's bumper hanging off and asks if i know whos car that is. "You managed to hit both my cars?" After a bit of a laugh, followed him to the hospital, exchanged details and a laugh and spent the night with my aunt to be told in the morning it was a small heart attack and my uncle will be released in a couple of days.

That place should give me a familly discount. Anyway, looks like everyone is going to recover, which is nice, and i have a reasonably amusing annecdote. In a dark sort of way. And now the reason i'm posting about this here.

What are the odds of my demanding a full re-spray from the insurance company? I'm comprehensively insured with AAMI, could i ask them to go to bat for me or will they say stfu we'll re-spray the doors and thats that?

Couldn't even get remotely angry at the poor sod, he was after all saving my uncles life!

Here's hoping they both make a complete recovery :)

Oh, and you cars too ;)

They'll probably just spray your doors, and blend it into the next panels. You can always talk to the repaired and offer to pitch in for more of a respray though.

Hmmmm, didn't think of that. Good point, if they refuse it's a good second best. Thanks guys.

Cinncinatus,
your family has my best wishes, and I certainly hope that all the visits to Australia won't be as exciting.....

What Rupe said is the go, speak with the repairer and find out how much extra it would cost to do the whole thing.
Generally, this is a common practise and so they will have done it for others as well.

Good luck and keep us up to date with progress, oh, and of the cars as well ;)
