Can anyone give me some suggestions for an exhhaust system mod.
I am looking around the $8-1000 mark.
Thanks

That will cover headers, piping and muffler quite easily. Go to any of the performance shops around and see what thy can do for you - I used Unique Autosports at Castle Hill who do a lot of GTRs and GTXs so found them to be quite helpful, even though i am n/a. Wouldn't know about others though....

He He. I wish!!!
When you say 2.25 do you mean just cat-back?
I really have no idea on costs, affects, etc.

Er, cat scmak, a set of headers turned upsidedown and up through the bonnet with a nice chromed trumpet tip would be the cheepest, performance exhaust.
Yeah, over the top but how am I to know that your car is a daily driver?????

Sweet. Then I can head down Lygon Street for few laps with the... Locals!
Well, I am going to assume that no one has any more suggestions :(
I will start looking into an exhaust mod then.

Actually, I wanted to pose this question as well seeing as I'm going to get the exhaust done now that it's lowered! 8)
Quite some time ago we mentioned the topic of exhausts and the likes and a few people put forward the theory that something called a 'hotdog' would reduce the raspy high pitched noise of an exhaust that is generated by our engine/exhaust set-ups when running a cat-back exhaust..
Would I be wrong if I asked for a 2¼ inch exhaust running through a 'hotdog' then into a sports muffler and finally a nice tip?
See, I'm after something that's not going to drone inside the cabin, and therefore has to be fairly quiet on normal take-off.. of course I'd like a deep throaty growl when I plant the foot but at cruising speed I really don't want to hear it, I'd rather hear some phat beats through the stereo [that's in progress too!]

Ask for a resonator. I think they call them hotdogs as slang due to the shape. It kinda looks like a hotdog.
-===- ASCII representation but you get the idea.
If you ask for a hotdog they might offer you fries and coke.

A HOTDOG and a RESONATOR is 2 different things man
Are you sure about that...

Forget about it. I lurve the sound of mine..... deeeeep down low and moderately loud, but screams up top. Keep the window closed and the sound isnt intrusive. Just simple cat back 2.25"piping with a straight-thru muffler. Cheaper too. My bro got the hotdog on his; i think its raspier. Definately quieter.
I have to say ive been quite happy with the tune of my 2.5" setup. It does get drony at times when you sit on 120km down the highway... nothing the volume button doesnt fix.

Jynx and bRaDiNhO,
Do you have any Dynos or opinions on what it did power and drive feel wise? I have an 01 SP20 so I will take it in comparison.
Andrew
No dyno yet.
Initially I had a 2" cat back, single tip, lukey muffler and extractors fitted. I found the car to be a little nippier in low revs and also a little lighter on the fuel. Sound was a little raspy for my liking.
I had a 2.5" cat back, dual tip, custom muffler installed around 3mnths back. Car is a little more sluggish off the line and pops when coming off the gas. 2.5" is too big for the NA motor but I installed this in preperation for the turbo. Sound is very deep and loud and i like it :)
From my experiences and general consensus on the board, 2-2 1/4" cat back w/ resonator if needed, sports muffler and extractors are the go for the BA astinas.

Same deal as Jynx.
The car definately feels quicker..... thats not saying you're taking half a second off your quarter mile time or anything, but it feels nippier. Mine pops whenever you come off the gas, and continues when off the gas but with higher revs. Only disadv is that it is less responsive when you hit the GO pedal.... give it a second and its much better though throughout mid-high revs.
