C's in japan make one for the Astina I posted about it ages
ago with pictures. I personally will be making my own having
it cut and rewelded will be heaps cheaper. Just need to have
the car pulled apart for a day so am waiting to be unemployed
in a couple of weeks to have the time.
If you cant find the pics I put up last time tell me and I will
hunt them down again.

Needs to learn: how does the short shifter work?[/color:post_uid0]

Its a see-saw principle where the centre is the pivot joint
on the shifter. If you make the underside of the shifter
longer and the section with the knob that you shift with
shorter you change the amount you have to move your hand.
Therefor if the movement needed by the hand is less you can
do it quicker and hence the terms Quick-Shifter or short-shifter.
I have done this brief but if it doesn't explain it fully for you
ask.

Wouldnt that mean you have to push harder on the gearstickas you shift?[/color:post_uid0]

You shouldn't need to push harder as short shifters increase
the load on the synchro's. The synchro's job is the bring the
top gear up to the same speed as the bottom gear so that
they mesh cleanly. The quicker shifting means the synchro
has to do its job all that much faster so increased wear.
This of course only applies when you are shifting fast. Normal
shifts there is no difference. So if you want it for looks and
the occasional quick shifting the wear factor shouldn't be
a problem.

but i mean the laws of force and leverage... surely you'd have to push harder... if only fractionally
oh well, i spose it doesnt really matter :)[/color:post_uid0]

Not disagreeing with what you are saying.
I just haven't noticed it being harder on the
shifters I have used.
