Mr theo, damn thats pretty crap. that might be repairable. how long did ya wait for the tow truck when i got off the phone to ya? Did the bar come off how i said it would?

Hey Theo,
I agree with Mic, find out if it can be repaired
before looking to buy a new bar. Thats real bad
luck I feel for you mate. Hope the need to kill
someone has faded now. I personaly think retreads
for trucks should be banned for your very reason.
Have you put the stock bar back on the car ??

Regards

We waited for at least 1½ hours after the NRMA left b4 the tow truck turned up
And he was a real wanker too, didnt give a crap about how rough he was with the loading of my car onto the tray :(
*Yeah the bar was held by 2 bolts at each side plus the straps i had in the middle
Nah Mal the car is at the auto lecos, the problem for the car not starting is thought to be electrical :([/color:post_uid13]

Heart felt sympathy for you Theo. That looks nasty, must have made quite a noise too! :(

I agree with Mal, that retread should be made illegal. On anything, car, truck, bus, anything!

damn that's nasty! but it looks repairable. maybe you should get it shortened at the same time as it's boken in the right place anyway ???

can you be compensated by the council/road maintenance company? give them a call and see[/color:post_uid0]

Well today i went quote hunting on repairs and modifications on chopping raising the bar an inch :(
Most of the places i visited quoted between $$500-$800,
The best quote was from the smash repairer that originally fitted and painted the kit $500,which is a little better, But because of the workload ATM it wouldnt be finished for at least 3weeks :( Also with the chopping of this bar i will lose the bottom air vents,im worried how its gunna look!
I emailed CARMATE about the new bar available, they quoted me $420 unpainted, but this bar wont be available for at least month or so :(
What do yous guys recon i should do??[/color:post_uid11]

oh dear lord....thats mangled. My bar (exactly the same as yours) cost a grand total of $700 to modify and paint..which shaved about an inch off it and some people say it looks alot better than the original because it keeps the vents and general shape..but removes alot of that large airdam look making it more aggressive... :) . The only problem with it was now i cant fit mesh behind it due to the reduced size as it sits up against the a/c condensor alot more.. but overall its a much improved front bar

ps.. beware doing a patch up/cut job reduced its strength as when i collected something once it started to get small creases on it..but easily fixed with touch up paint :) . btw..have you been defected yet ? hehe i have 1mm too low..damn sideskirts

 ah well chow! :D[/color:post_uid0]

Hey white Pony,
Yeah im a little worried about getting it cut and fixed, due to the reason you stated*making it weak* :( *But it has to be done, its not practicle as low as it was,it was a pain in the ass
I also noticed that your power steering cooler pipes were left in the original factory position. Mine were bent all out of wack to fit the bar on,how did your pannel beater get around that??
Another thing where about was your inch taken out, mine will be cut from the bottom which will take out most of the bottom vents :(
I have a few pics to show the b4 and after affect :;):

This is the bar in it original state.....
[img:post_uid14]http://www.digitalpose.com/mbr/1/13511/p/230500_3478877061260614528_vl.jpg[/img:post_uid14]
This is the bar photoshopped with an inch cut outta it from the bottom.......
[img:post_uid14]http://www.digitalpose.com/mbr/1/13511/p/230499_6146152374343129356_vl.jpg[/img:post_uid14]

Notice the one with the inch cut out has closed the air damn up a little and practically illiminated the 2 bottom vents ???

It will pretty much look like that if i go ahead with it,which looks like the plan ATM,
What do yous guy's think??[/color:post_uid14]

actually....

my pipes were bend to the ****house.....so bent that my a/c unit ceases to work now cause it cant get gas from the conditioner from the bend. I cant actually put mesh in the from bar  but it still looks sweet and an intercooler is going there soon so problem solvered. In reguards to the front bar is was done really well...it wasnt actually chopped much at it..its hard to explain it was chopped and the angle was changed (the bottem of the air dam is now straight instead of sloping down ; which was why it was so low in the first place). No idea how you'd replicate it again because it was all experimental involving 2 weeks of thinking and doing. Unique but a pain in the ass to do. Id love to post a picture but my car is STILL in the shop getting the headwork etc..

chow ppl[/color:post_uid0]

Yeah the people that designed that front bar didnt think about things like the aircon/powersteering cooling pipes
My aircon pipe was bent badly to,but its still works, honestly i dont know how that aircon pipe didnt snap being aloy and how far it is bent :O

Cheers :D[/color:post_uid0]

Try and get some proof from your mates mate and send it in and say "You covered him, why not me?". If that doesn't work, do a Bobo, get some anfo, a hire van, and a clock and park it out the front of the RTA head office, and walk casually away... :;): :D[/color:post_uid0]
