welcome to the boards,
the short answer to your question is no.

the other answer is a maybe however your practicly need to replace every major drivetrain/suspension/hub parts on your car = $$$$$$!

do some investigation if your serious. im sure the other guys can help out too :P

Go turbo, will be cheaper and go alot better, but that is only my 2c's worth

Your money , your car

it would be easier to go turbo, i agree.

but you could do it, but you'd probably need to

use the 2.5 engine + gearbox
custom driveshafts
spice the loom from the V6 into the SP
custom engine mounts
and the list goes on.
as the engine was never originally an option, a lot of things are going to be custom/hard to do - but don't let it discourage you . After all, i've seen a 2.5 transplanted into a KB Ford Laser!

There was an article in Autospeed about a guy who put a 2.5L
into a similar aged Laser, KE I think. Have a look how he did it.
I would recomend turbo as well as no increase in engine weight
making the nose heavy and affecting handling but if you want to
be different go for it. Maybe cruise Fordlaser.com and see if any
other laser guys have done it as the BG 323/Laser should be the
same mechanically as your SP Astina.

It will fit.

Do you have the buget to do it is the question?
I'd first check the engine mounts on the BG and BA 1.8 engine and gearbox, if they're similar then you could be in luck if not then go turbo.
