Hi all:
i have a BJ II, 1.8liter Auto. Upgraded from a '94 Festiva. As u can imagine i am pretty happy with it, two things bugs me through;
1) The fuel consumption, i drive quite gently but can only get 11L/100Km in they city with Optimax. what sort of consumption are u guys getting ? and to 15SIK, how much better did your consumption got after UNICHIP ?
2) Has anyone noticed ? the steering wheel is not actually directly in front of the driver. it is a bit offset to the left (towards the gearbox) by about 30mm. or is it just me ? :? any solution ?
Thanks :)
Regard
James
Well I get 550ks to 47 litres of the High Octane fuel (you do the math) for city driving. I have a 1.8 but it's manual. Also city driving for me is in Adelaide which doesn't have the same traffic of bigger cities. I upgraded from a 95 Excel, I know how you feel stepping up to the Astina :D

I have a 1.8 manual and got 590km/s out of 42 ltrs last wkend...
Brisbane to Iluka and back again..... Using BP ultimate.... Generally 5 ks over the speed limit all the way...
That's 14kms per Litre, or about 7 Ltrs per 100ks.

i stepped up from a 1.3L charade to the 2l V6 astina.
i didn't think it was too bad on fuel.. not as good as the charade, but the astina goes a lot harder than the charade did, and well fuel economy is the trade off.
as the saying goes:
cheap / reliable / fast --> pick the 2 you want.
I have a modified exhaust, no extractors though, do you think that would affect the fuel economy?

i used to get about 460kms out of my 55L tank in my BA HT 1.8
so whatever that works out to...
but really the only think that affects fuel consumption is your right foot! But when you know you have the power, you tend to use it...
i can usually get about 450kms from putting 45 litres in there (i've never been able to get more than 45ish litres of fuel in)... not fussed about get 500kms out of the car, because i sit in heavy traffic twice a day, five days a week.

I get 460-480 off 45ltr in heavy traffic too depends on how many days i am running late for work!!! I can get 540 of highway driving using PULP
I do a lot of short trips, but I would have expected to be closer to your figures...I get about 350 to the 39L - I don't know how close that is your figures, but it seems that my economy is a bit ****e...
