Hi all,

It's been a while since the last time I was here, good to see the forum is still active. I'm looking at replacing new 5x7s at the front and 6s on the rear doors. problems i'm having as follow:

1) Problem of taking of the speaker grills at the front and rear doors.
2) can't detect any sound from the rear door speakers....as the previous owner replaced the cd player and I think he/she ****ed up the wiring...so now i got sounds on the rear door speakers

If anyone have the same setup in their V6 hardtop please help, thanks in advance

1) you ave to fully remove the door trims to get to the speakers, are the grills are plastic welded to the doortrim on the inside. Just remove the screws in the tho door pocket, the one in the door handle and the one covered by the plastic cap thats hidden when the door is closed under the mirrors area.

2) thats because you shouldn't have speakers in the rear doors as standard - they're in the rear parcel shelf!

I have 6 speakers all together, two 5x7s in the front doors, two 6s in the rear door and two 6x9s in the rear parcel shelf as u mentioned. the front and two 6x9s at the back are working fine but i don't know how to hook up the other existing two speakers in the rear doors.

as the hardtop doesnt come with speakers in the rear doors there should be no stock speaker wires going into there. unless the previous owner ran his own wires to the back doors ...

Otherwise, u can just split the wires going to the rear speakers as they pass the B pillars and run them up, through the plastic harness in the wall, thru the wire tube, thru the plastic harness in the door, and down to the speakers in the rear door.

... i thought the hardtop had metal over the speaker holes in the rear doors .... must be wrong.

Ed - ah cool - didn't realise that as you didnt mention the parcel shelf ones :) And you actually have seven - as you have the one in the centre of the dash as well

no idea - i've personally never looked :)

there r no speakers in the rear door of the hardtop, just coz the rear door trim has grills does not mean they have speakers.

I too thought there were speakers there until i removed the trim to find that there were plastic "bowl" shaped covers inplace of where the speakers should go.

but seriously, why would u need the rear door speakers when u already have the 6x9s?

Probably a 6 speaker stero factory upgrade or somthing like that.
