Well, I never really cared about BGs due to rippled body panels, rusty sunroofs and overheating engines. But as some of you may be aware, my old mate Brendan has picked up a white 93 BG SP P2 recently. So he bugs me about parts on occasion...
Anyhow, get this: Last night some little frontbum stole his left-side A pillar mould! Little bastards couldn't even steel it right, and they broke the clips trying... All us professional thieves know you need to peel back the window rubber to unscrew the top of the A pillar mould before delicately sliding it up, don't we? :p
Anyhow, this got me thinking of a way to curtail the heinous rampage of younger farkas out there snaffling off with A pillar moulds. Now, if any of the bro's finally get to making some new aftermarket pillar moulds, I was thinking a deterrent could be a visible seriel number or company logo etched into the mould itself. If a seriel number is used, since this is a small market, this would be an immediate way to track A pillar moulds. Tracking isn't the issue, the point is that if the young farka thinks some mate with a large Chicaboo for a friend recognises the seriel number on his car, and it's been aquired in a less than honest fashion, the said large Chicaboo could arrange for some form of recompense on the spot... ;)
The only other thing I could think of is to colour code the pillar moulds to the car, or have them made of pressed metal with a few more fixings...
Who's got some ideas in this area? This is an open market as far as I see it...
Gav.
