as the topic says...my friend is wrecking a 2002 model protege sp20. most panels are perfect, interior is perfect, and 16" wheels are perfect (tyres are still very new). the car is a sedan and red in colour. it has an auto tranny.
if you want anything from the car, email me and let me know. everything must go...doesn't have room to leave the stuff around his house for a long time.

sideskirts are very similar to ones that work on BA astinas. could be a buyer there, ummmm it all depends on what people want really! us melbourneites might do some buying for our interstate friends while were at it!

Are they they series 2 wheels on the protege? price?

Dr4g0n
13-08-2003, 01:01 PM
umm i dunno what series they are, but they're the 16" 5spoke design with raised bits in the middle of each spoke. not a scratch on em and the tyres are perfect...yokohama advans...

anywayz, looking for around $800 the lot...

a couple of the guys on here are gonna come down on sunday to sift through the stuff and see what they want, aswell as trial fit things to see if they fit. come along too if you want.

Rupewrecht
13-08-2003, 02:04 PM
it'll be the series 2 as it's the sedan, and the 'raised bits' follow on to the new wheels

Question: If most panels and interior etc are perfect, why is the car up for wrecking?

Toyboy

Yeah i was wondering that 2 :?

Rupewrecht
15-08-2003, 09:52 AM
because the back of it got sat on by a truck, apparently

and it's not like you can remove the rear quarter panels :)

Dr4g0n
15-08-2003, 12:59 PM
well, the back of a truck's loading compartment is pretty long from the back wheels...this part ended up on pushing the roof in on the car. instant convertible if you will...but the rest of the car was untouched, even the back (boot area). so you see, chassis was just a tiny bit farkd....
anywayz, rupe, mike and co, you're good to come on sunday about 12 noon. gimme a call closer to the day and i'll give you the address.

my number is 0411615756 in case you're too lazy to scroll up.. :)

anyone else who would like to come on the day is welcome to. all parts will be laid out for shopping.

hey, i was wondering if i could get in on this action?

these are a list of my demands.. j/k
well a list of things I'm interested in.

-single din tray (do u have that or does it have a double din headunit?)
-stock 5x7 speakers
-driverside sun visor (would it fit in the BA?)

how much would that cost aprox?

and which suburb is it located?

Asterix
22-08-2003, 12:49 PM
The series one BJ 323's were single DIN, but the Series II are doubles.

Seems to be taking a while.

I was interested in the steering wheel. The sports airbag wheel on a SP20 is much nicer than the standard BA V6 item. Would it fit (and the airbag still work)? Where could I get the swap over done, as I really, really want to make sure the air bag works at the end of it. Not a DYI type job in my on opinion. An air bag is kinda important if I ever stuff up?

What's the going rate?

Thanks
Chris

if its still intack it should be ok but i imagine a hit like that would've set it off an as far as install turn ingnition off take +off the battery off under the steering wheel there is 2 gromets pull them out u will see 2 ten mill bolts they hold the airbag to the steering wheel. then take the nut off in the middle off the wheel an u can pull off ur steering wheel . reverse all that to fit the new one i have done it many times main thing to remember is no power connected or it can go off then ur in **** lol cheers rod

according to bruce the airbacs from the sp20 are still intact. still yet to hear back from them though :~(

has anyone gotten a phonecall/email yet>?

Dr4g0n
31-08-2003, 11:47 PM
ok guys, sorry it's taking so long....both my friend and i have been busy and couldn't get round to it...
anywayz, i found out the going rate of an sp20 bodykit from mazda is about $2000 brand new, unpainted (rear bar is $1000!!). the side skirts are $350 unpainted. so we're letting go of these ones for $250.
the gauge cluster is $200 for the whole thing...
centre console is $150
steering wheel and airbag still intact...let go of it for $250
i still gotta call each person we took numbers down from...

anywayz, all prices are negotiable...so the above aren't final if you are really interested in something. even if they seem high, you should give mazda a call and find out for yourselves how much the stuff is worth....unbelievable.... :?

Okay, sounds easy enough to take the airbag wheel, but will it fit onto my BA astina??

Are the boss bits the same, and will the airbag still work with the older car?

pr1mo
01-09-2003, 03:26 PM
cgunther (chris?) please double check that the steering wheel design of the sp20 astina and the sp20 protege are the same. i have a sneaking suspicion that they arent :P

i cant answer that about what it will fit sorry ring mazda ask for workshop forman an ask him . an 2grand for the bodykit from mazda seems too cheap to me i was quoted $5500 that was for front bar ,two driving lights , bottom mesh , grill ,side skirts ,rear bar , rear bar add on lip , an the roof spoiler with brake light, now the difference between a normal astina back bar an the sp is only the holes in the bottom for the add on piece to bolt on if you have a normal astina you wil have to drill your own holes if u wanna lip

As for prices that Dr4gon was quoted from Mazda... the only people that would pay these exorbitant prices are insurance companies, which is probably why the are so high. They have no choice. Even they try to scam second hand/non-genuine parts on a repair job.
Take for example the rear bumper - how many individuals would buy one for $1000 anyway. Most likely a car like that would be insured. Maybe a mirror or hubcap (a non-accident consumable) they would buy to avoid premium surges.
They are also guaranteed & 100% brand new. If anything goes wrong with a part, you can take it to any dealer nation-wide to get sorted out.
What they are worth & what they are valued at are two completely different things. Nothing Mazda 'value' they're stuff at are 'worth' it (IMHO).
My two cents...

How's about everyone just makes an offer of what they think is appropriate to their pockets & if it doesn't suit the seller then so be it.
Save the dragging on... :)

good idea asterix...shoot some prices my way and i'll see what my friend says...it's not my parts guys, so it's not up to me to say whether it's overpriced or whatever
