well he is taking the money and getting to keep all the add ons like lip, wheels etc. so it is a positive for ben i think there also. with that much damage. I'd take the money and not a repaired car.

It's the reason I've never bothered with comp. Just seems a terrible deal on my cars (700+ a year then a $500 excess on a 2500 car.) Maybe if I had a nicer car like bens was. Hard to eesee what's actually broken. Maybe I'm just strange.

nope that makes logical sense. this year was the first year since owning mine that i haven't had full comp. just isn't worth it anymore.

when i brought the car for $18,000, for $1100 full comp, it was worth it. but not now as the car is only worth $4000. JustCar wanted $450 for full comp this year, so i declined renewing my policy.

the specialized parts on my car are worth $2000-$2500 alone. and i dont see myself loosing out much if i crash it and then sell off the parts. and then there is another $1500 of parts not even installed on the car either.

When you have full comp and you are at fault, will the insurance company still pay you money to find a new car?

You pay the excess, then the insurance company gives you the agreed value of the car on the policy. So yes.

I have done the same in the past with my old Skyline. For now the protege gets full comp, in a few more years I'll reassess.
