Damn, 6 bids already and its up to $30!!

mattylagana 15-11-2011 11:46 PM

Does this item simply lower your gear knob height? Or actually shorten throws cause I don't see how it shortens throws from image above

Hey mikey pm him tell him to stop sale on eBay u will give him $50 cash lol an I'll come visit :)

mynameisdaniel 15-11-2011 11:51 PM

Phil, if you get it just note that your shift knob may not fit the thread, Mazda used two different threads on their cars and it seems they changed them whenever.

phildough 15-11-2011 11:56 PM

I put in $45 as you can get similar cheap ones off ebay for $62 delivered.

But if some one wants to keep bidding on it they are welcome

I have a Mazdaspeed leather gearknob on my car ATM so it had better fit.
If not I will just get one from the US like this but minus the knob

Haha nah it's cool looks like Phil can have this one. I don't have money for that sort of stuff right now. If it was cheaper if have sniped it but I'll save my pennies.

I am almost certain that the product is the same length as stock. However the fulcrum had been moved to gain mechanical advantage. It acts just like a lever.
They've moved the ball pivot thing up the shifter so that a smaller movement in the car equates to a large throw down below. Because the ball is sitting higher up but still mounts in same place you lose in car height on the shifter.

If that explanation doesn't work for you, grab a pen or pencil, grip it in the centre with two fingers so u can pivot it, then move it back and forth like a shifter. Experiment with different pivot points and how much movement you get on each end.

lol thanxz for detailed discription and coaching technique :p

Clean_Cookie 16-11-2011 11:06 AM

mattylagana 17-11-2011 10:38 AM

I hope I wasnt bidding against you Phil :S, but I won auction on short shifter at $60- $65 inc postage, seems like a good price i thought ?

Clean_Cookie 17-11-2011 10:45 AM

They are $62 new LOL!

phildough 17-11-2011 11:05 AM

I stopped bidding ages ago when I saw the price on it.
But I ask why when one person says they are going to bid on it do others just push the price up for the end buyer.
I think if only one person had bidded on this it would have gone for maybe $10.
For the same price as you paid for that cheap copy Im going to buy a much better new one shipped from canada for the same price!!!

Clean_Cookie 17-11-2011 11:54 AM

If i was going to bid on something I wouldnt post it until it went out of my pricerange... But that's just me LOL selfish as aways.

marcs_sp20 17-11-2011 01:50 PM

I personally went to $30 on that shifter, as soon as it came up as outbid on Tuesday night at 10.40pm I left it at that..

phildough 17-11-2011 02:09 PM

Yeah true, but I thought if I posted I was bidding on something it would mean others wouldn't bid on it,
It just means by the three of us bidding against each other it just pushed the price from $5 to $60 which is more than whats its worth.
Sorry to the winner for making you pay way more than you should have.
Thats why I pulled out early.

not a problem man, I'm happy with the price I paid anyway.

mynameisdaniel 17-11-2011 02:38 PM

I think I paid about $55 for my cheap one, even at $65 it's a worthwhile mod :) Unless your gearbox is any worse than than they are normally because it makes it 10x harder to get it into first or second.

mikey_something 17-11-2011 05:14 PM

i placed 0 bids...

phildough 17-11-2011 05:21 PM
