EOI: Weekend Camping/Cabining Trip

LOL Cabining isn't even a real word...

http://www.borumbadeerpark.com/index.html

Above link is to a Camping/Cabin place near Imbil, where the QLD Rally is held. Can camp or have a cabin for the night. Cheap rates. 160km/2hrs from Brisbane.

And for tarmac play time, you get to use the top half of the Sunny Coast Hinterland.

Any more ideas of what to do or suggestions of were to stay? If you do make a suggestion, make sure it is within 3 hours of Brisbane, that way more QLD members can attend.

Me and kaz have been camping at Elanda point just north or noosa. Its an awesome spot but just camping i dont think they have cabins. Oh and right on the lake part of the everglades.

this reminded me of an event we were going to hold a few years back...

Sounds like the same principles, but I cant get fireworks no more :p

Myself & Tash are up for it, just need to know a date...

outbakoz 07-03-2010 08:54 PM

Looks good Ryan, count me in, pending date of course

If you go there when theres been alot of rain you can drive up the road and float down from the bridge to the weir type thing. The vans there are ****** though, id camp and try and get a spot down the bottom near the water :)

Its nicer and theres big open area for fires etc.

Might be interested just need dates and locations:P

Recently stayed at Paradise dam up near bundaberg. was a great place could camp right on the edge of the dam and they had bbqs and toilets.
No showers but does it really matter for a weekend?

The cabins cannot be any worse than Dorrigo's cabins. For 1 or 2 nights, it should be a issue as you are only in them to sleep.

Camp fire is always good. So camping does appeal. But at least the cabins are there for those who cannot rough it for a night.

Dates? Dunno? Winter/Summer/who cares?

Ice88 10-03-2010 06:50 PM

Ryan from what i remember the cabins are fine, just the vans!

Ill prolly camp as its nice flat ground down the bottom and loo, showers and stuff are close enough by :)

There are few things in winter you wont wanna swim or go down the creek, so id aim for either sept or end of easter sort of time. It can get pretty cold out there so make sure to pack a good sleeping bag and some ugg boots!

EDIT: Wonder where i put the tent....

Once you put a rear strut brace in the hatch is no better

Mad Mat 11-03-2010 03:17 PM

well is there any rallys on soon that we can camp and watch???????

project.r.racing 11-03-2010 07:51 PM

Once a year. But is very busy and best to stay away as all close accommodation is full around that weekend.

Lots of truck, tourists and police that weekend.

What about a place like double island or something? just book a few camp sites together?

Brisbane_boy 06-04-2010 09:03 AM

last time i went camping at double island our hilux got stuck. i dont think the astinas will like it/suvive.

Rix 06-04-2010 10:13 PM

i didn't say we had to go on the beach, all the main roads are tramaced now so it shouldn't be a problem

project.r.racing 07-04-2010 12:14 PM

there are no tarmac roads to double island point.

Rix 07-04-2010 01:36 PM

yes there is, i went there this weekend, took the barge over etc. its tarmaced all the way to the caravan park.

Sorry i don't mean that far north I mean the North Shore end, with the Lake Cooroilbah

bourbon 07-04-2010 02:44 PM

yeah, double island point now has camping grounds you can drive upto in a normal car...but they get really busy specially on holidays...

project.r.racing 07-04-2010 03:29 PM

Noosa North Shore and Double Island Point are 2 different areas. Don't confuse the 2.

Rix 07-04-2010 09:42 PM

ok my bad lol i mean north shore:P
