Ladies and Gentlemen the post you have all been waiting for is HERE !!!
First things first the list of people that helped over the 2 and abit days to get this into the car. Haighie - Chief Mechanic - will never be able to thank this guy enough Hammo - 2nd in Charge - making the massive drive down to be apart of it Laganna - Comedian - alot more work would of been done faster if he didnt make us constantly ROFL !!! Little Matt - Mr Polite - helped out and watched and learnt which is always a good thing Michael - Rocker cover painter - The boy has some skills Wiffo - Not sure what he did but was there for abit Carney - Sorry we ripped you so hard over the 'supercheap' thing ;) NOW THE SWAP !!!! Only 2 things at screwed us around.. Fuel rail where the lines go onto the block where different so managed to get that sorted and also the squish plate i think its called between the box and the motor was different but nothing a drill wont fix.. apart from that plugged in and fired first time :-D BITS LEFT TO DO !!!! - Install new chrome bolts for rocker cover - Install new chrome radiator hoses - Install mishimotto chrome power steering resevoir - Polish up front strut brace - Buy red spiral cable stff to go around some cables to break up the balck abit - black splitter tube to tidy up wiring New Motor (FS-ZE goodness) http://carphotos3.cardomain.com/imag...3837_large.jpg Old Motor Coming Out http://carphotos2.cardomain.com/imag...3838_large.jpg Clean Engine Bay (4 cans of 500ml degreaser later) http://carphotos.cardomain.com/image...3839_large.jpg Fly Wheel Compare - 8.2kg stock - 3.6kg Fidanza http://carphotos.cardomain.com/image...3841_large.jpg http://carphotos2.cardomain.com/imag...3840_large.jpg New Motor Going In http://carphotos3.cardomain.com/imag...3842_large.jpg Completed !!!!! http://carphotos.cardomain.com/image...3843_large.jpg http://carphotos2.cardomain.com/imag...3844_large.jpg |

look awesome Matt :) cant believe how light the flywheel is  |
also what happened to your old flywheel too??? i think rhys is looking for one to finish off his converion to g series..
|
Nah, i've got a fidanza in the cupboard waiting for me to find that dang speed sensor
Also good work on the engine swap guys! |
Ice88 - used stock ECU :)
Phil - there is a difference especailly at higher RPM or when u stick your foot really well into it Rhys - thanks dude.. yeah u'll love life with the fidanza Mat - old flywheel is with andy as he needs it for his g series swap and as he did the motor swap he got first dibs on most stuff.. Yeah we weighted them so people didnt think i was 'pulling it' in regards to how much weight difference there was Maz sp20 - to be honest wasnt really keeping track like in above post 2 and a bit days could of done and quicker but slow and steady is always a good thing :) |
congrats on the conversion Matt! I would have come down with Michael, but I had work both days :( he tells me it flies lol I shotgun a ride in it next cruise!! and I'm not surprised by what u said about Laganna, great comedian! hahaha
