Marc's old school cruiser - 1984 Nissan Bluebird

Hey guys,

So over the past fortnight or so I have been hinting that I have purchased a nice older car - That being a 1984 Nissan Bluebird "Ventura" wagon :D

This all came about a couple weeks ago, when I was having a conversation to my Fiance's grandfather about his sisters old TD Gemini, I basically told him I didnt want to persue that idea as it was going to cost too much just to get all the rust cut out of it, and said that I was more interested in his Bluebird, as it is what I call a well kept car...

Then Friday a week ago, I got the news that I could have the car for bugger all, as my Fiance's grandfather wanted to fit a towbar to his Rav, so I did one better and bought him one, so that settled it :p Basically, I have bought a granny spec bluebird wagon (complete with original 8-Track player!!:p) for just over $300 :D:D

As you can see below in the next post, I wasnt able to get full photos as the in-laws have gone on holidays, but she definitely is very straight for a 26yo car, only thing I could fault were a couple dings around the rear window, and a very very small bubble of rust in the sill, but other then that is awesome!!

So what are the plans for the car? Well to start off, some 80's era JDM wheels, tinted windows, little stereo and maybe a little muffler, but other then that its staying true to original.

I have been doing a bit of research on various Datto/Nissan bluebird forums, and have found out its quite easy to swap over brakes & suspension from R31 & S13 silvia's, and same goes with motors, with the 3 common being the CA18DET, SR20DET & VQ30DET, but I dont see that happening any time soon

Im looking at these Work rims - 15x6.5" +19 offset, which come with near new tyres for $500, but I think I could get it down a little further ;)

Gee I remember that interior from the old Skylines, and then remember how bad the 80s skylines were **shudders**

At least the Skylines had a decent engine.......shudder x2 with this though.....................nothing personal Marc but you couldn't pay me enough to have that sit in my driveway...........fugly but, if you go nuts with it I'd be keen to see it I guess

marcs_sp20 28-09-2010 11:48 AM

nothing wrong with the interior, its pure 80's :p Also the L20 motor are a pretty decent unit to start with, and plenty of aftermarket goodies that you can throw at them, but thats not why I purchased it. Its becuase this now now been owned by 3 generations of family, starting off with my fiances great granarents, then her grandparemts and now us.

I dont plan on turning it into something that can do 200k's or handle like a go kart, its more of a cruiser, i'll leave the other duties to the SP20  my intentions are simple, keep it simple.

and if we're being honest, I wouldnt be dead owning euro trash, but thats what modifying cars is all about ;)

Cosmo Dude 28-09-2010 11:49 AM

Just noticed that it doesn't have a mechanical fuel pump so you could fit power steering to it.

Pretty silly thing to say Marc. Comments like this really subtract from your automotive knowledge & hinder anyone taking you serious. Just like pointing Demanius to this site. Gee thanks for that btw  I'll leave it @ that ;)
