Heh yeah, they need a coat of satin black now.

swift jimmy 03-01-2012 05:07 PM

Thanks guys :-) yeah noticed it when i put them on so they have come off until i get a chance to spray them.. didnt realise how faded they were

Was more a reference to what they look like on the car.. cause i know there were a couple of people keen for a set

**** small update have painted wiper arms today at work cause it was SOOOOO busy ;-) and didnt want to miss out on this heat to paint them :-) *****

swift jimmy 15-01-2012 06:31 PM

Had a fun arvo playing around with the Lamin-X tint. Have done the foglights and the blinkers. Still have headlights and rear lights to go. Also decided to finally do the most important mod.. astinagt.com sticker :-D

What's best for painting wiper arms? I've got a bit of satin black rattle can left over from my headlights, not sure specifically if it's sufficiently waterproof or not.

i just sanded mine back first then hit them with the satin black seem to be holding up alright with all the rain we have had here.

smurfy 15-01-2012 08:56 PM

Thanks dude :-)

Okay open to debate i have primed up my rear badges.. now what colour? i was thinking black but EVERYONE does black so was thinking maybe the same red as the SP20 Sticker or maybe abit darker? thoughts??

Ben 16-01-2012 06:56 PM

Candy red. Slightly deeper than the sp20 badge

smurfy 16-01-2012 07:05 PM

i reckon black, your blacking out the tail lights right? i think red might just stand out to much.

Ice88 16-01-2012 07:05 PM

Every time I see this thread I read it as Jimmy Suite and I get all excited then I reread :(

Like the wheels though the polished lip and old school spoke design are really nice.

marcs_sp20 16-01-2012 07:51 PM

I reckon gold, just to be different ;)

Ben 16-01-2012 11:03 PM

I've changed my mind. Gun metal grey! Or gold, gold is cool.

swift jimmy 17-01-2012 10:12 AM

Thanks for the colour ideas peeps.

Marc - like your suggestion of gold cause know one else has done it.. but i hate the colour gold.

so im going to go buy a can of matte black and also a can of candy apple red.. thinking the rear badges candy apple red and the front one black

smurfy 17-01-2012 10:26 AM

matt, dont buy it from supercheap, my can broke the same day i bought it, went back and they were diiiickks to mee

Was it the export stuff by any chance?

I'll take a walk in bunnings on my lunch break see what i can find :-)

Clean_Cookie 17-01-2012 01:36 PM

Buy the quality stiff for $15 a can. That export stuff is useless

smurfy 17-01-2012 02:50 PM

not sure if it was or not, i threw the can away, can was blue, touch up paint, was 13bucks

phunkdust 17-01-2012 07:25 PM

Supercheap has gone to ****, they used to have some good stuff but seem to have got rid of it all in favour of home brand **** like 'calibre'

maz sp20 17-01-2012 07:31 PM

I second that :(

phildough 17-01-2012 07:54 PM

I agree, they are trying to live up to their name too much.
The quality of their stuff has gone down.
That is what you get from cheap Chinese crap I suppose.
I was looking at a jack there the other day and the welding on I was terrible.

Clean_Cookie 17-01-2012 08:20 PM

They still have decent stuff but the trouble is people always want cheap, cheap sells. If you're going to use it once people don't buy snap-on etc. But its a pita only selling supercheap quality stuff. Saying that I bought a black and Decker heat gun the other day, and it was almost twice the price and similar quality to their Rockwell series. Which is junk.

smurfy 17-01-2012 08:33 PM

im pretty sure ive walked out of supercheap as they never have anything i want :(

Ben 17-01-2012 10:21 PM

I got a $50 supercheap voucher for my birthday. Dont even know what i want to spend it on, they have nothing i want. Wish i had it a week before when i bought all my detailing stuff :(

phunkdust 17-01-2012 10:31 PM

The only thing I've got there of late is some contact adhesive to re fit my side mouldings. Sticks like baby poo to a blanket.

swift jimmy 18-01-2012 10:22 AM

should rename my thread 'supercheap rant' hehehehe :-P

but yes i agree with some of the statements said.. Some of there stuff is hit and miss.

... Okay car stuff .. have decided to paint the mazda M on the back candy apple red and the mazda and 323 astina badges matt black.. cause having them all red will look stupid

While you are painting the Mazda badge turn it into the Evil Mazda Badge.

didnt notice you till like the last second when you flashed, was staring at the stupid skateboarder in the middle of the road

Ben 19-01-2012 09:28 PM

Pics when you've done it, because im thinking i want to do mine red too..

swift jimmy 20-01-2012 02:33 PM

Smurfy - i didnt even recognise your car till i flashed you :-) was like i think that Jess but not sure

Ben - you ask for pics you will receive. This after the 2 coats of red. Doing the mazda M first then doing the others

marcs_sp20 20-01-2012 02:36 PM

Should get ride of sp20 sticker and astina badge and grab a sport20 decal ;)

Ben 20-01-2012 05:57 PM

Looks good! Where did you find the paint??

P.s don't you love the dirt on black cars, mine looks the same :p

swift jimmy 22-01-2012 03:45 PM

Marc - have been thinking about doing that and getting the red sport20 decals for the side aswell but got the badges off a forum member for cheap so see what happens :-)

Ben - ended up getting the paint from *cough* supercheap *cough* cant remember the brand off the top of my head the can is sitting at work. Will find out and post on here.

Yes black cars SUCK for dirt but look oh so sexy when clean

Well i tried lamin-x my rear lights the other weekend and failed massively :-(

so instead with my last pre-made sheet for the rear lights i managed to cut out 2 pieces out just for the rear blinkers.

swift jimmy 23-01-2012 06:37 PM

marcs_sp20 23-01-2012 07:21 PM

- ordered the AAC Protege Bumper Fix brackets

Hey swift jimmy, (from a few pages back), what happened wen you got charged with the Pod Filter? Did they defect you? or fine you..? Reason I'm asking is 'cause I just fitted my K&N 57i kit and only recently learned that its not legal..,/^%#$@:(
