The Low Life (large images)

Hey guys & gals!
Yesterday a few mates and I embarked on a mission - to change the Astina forever.

Click on a picture to enlarge it. Beware though, they are 5mb in size - each! Photo's by Love Tap

Guess what is going on here:

Amazing things!
We got together before our photo-shoot, to finally adjust what i had installed a few months ago. BC Coil-over Springs, from JustJap Sydney ($1200 delivered).

We basically rocked up to an old soccer grounds, and found a patch of cement to start our work:

An hour later, we were back on the road! Lower, Faster, Sexier:

She rides no different then when they were installed, which was a mere 20cm from the lowest structural point. Now it's flat on 10cm:

It's she a camera hog?

The BC coil-overs have adjustable dampening on all strut tops, allowing me to change the ride 'roughness' within 30 seconds of pulling over. Great for when you want to have some fun, or need to drive a shockingly bumpy road.

Thanks again to Love Tap for the photos!

Hit me up with any questions!

Cheers,
Steve.

lol valerius!
and it looks great mate!im jealous :)

Rupewrecht 14-02-2010 08:12 PM

MUCH better.

I'd personally raise the rear and lower the front a little more though ;)

project.r.racing 14-02-2010 08:57 PM

nice seeing more pics steve. i'd do what dan said and raise the rear 10-20mm.

mine are sitting even now. i still have 10mm i can lower it, but have decidied to stay a little higher than the D2s.

chicaboo 14-02-2010 09:06 PM

Just raise the rear I reckon, the fronts are framing the arch really well.

Gav.

love it man :D
r u coming to the photoshoot??

D Valerius 14-02-2010 09:12 PM

He better be.

project.r.racing 14-02-2010 10:00 PM

steve-

how'd you go fitted the rears? i had major issues with with the bolt holes not lining up due to the strut feet and hub knuckle touching. i totally stripped the threading on 1 bolt trying to hammer the sucker in.

and the brake lines? mine are too stiff to be bent on the angles BC have welded the brackets on. they have them going thru the bracket horizontally, were's vertically would've been better.

Hey cheers guys! I'm loving the ride, a little rough, but it comes with the territory and the looks :D
Pinching myself that i didn't do it sooner, as it puts a smile on my face as I walk up to this sweet kit to drive it hehe
@Ryan - sorry mate, I didn't install these, only adjusted them. As far as I know, didn't have trouble with install.

How bout some more pictures! Again - click to enlarge!

Couldn't have done it without another car!

Also - photo shoot was fun, but need to even out the balance of front and rear, so Wednesday the car goes in to the shop to be balanced, hoping to drop front and raise rear to match. This needs to be done to make sure it is at legal height for the law and insurance :P

Anyways - little hard to see, but you can feel with your hand - the left rear is lower cos you can't fit your fingers in between the tire and arch, right side it's snug :D

Wheel alignment next week, so she won't see the highway till then - as a result won't make it to the photo shoot this coming weekend :(

Gez - I better get to bed!

Steve.

__sam 17-02-2010 03:42 PM

It needed to happen.

How'd the alignment go? Saw it out front of the work shop today.

gtarone 22-02-2010 11:19 PM

Hey Sam,
Welcome to AstinaGT hehe, only got a balance the other day, which raised it slightly, but I'm thinking of lowering it more before the alignment, if i can get a little more camber in the rear, I'm gonna keep it low fo sure.

Cheers,
Steve.

project.r.racing 23-02-2010 08:45 AM

i have camber bolts only in the rear of mine to adjust the camber. the old D2s had some rear camber adjustment.

gtarone 23-02-2010 09:19 AM

I'm sure i have camber in the front already, the rear is dead up and down - so that needs to change if i wanna let the rubber in.
