Exhausts
hi guys,
ANother problem I have is in regards to what exhaust system i should purchase for the BG Astina. The purpose is for looks mostly and some performance. Wondering what is a suitable brand and the cost effective way to go about this? Also what systems will fit on the current pipe wull i need to remove it since its so small???? cheers guys |
Hey there..
If you're mainly concerned about looks, then i would definately recommend an axle back system, which would basically just include a new muffler and a nice exhaust tip. You probably won't get much, if anything, in the way of a performance increase and this will also keep the noise down. Being a BG i'm not sure what the standard pipe size is. It may all depend on what engine you're sporting too, be it the SOHC or the DOHC version. I would suggest making some enquiries at exhaust places too for comparison. Brands like Lukey, Walker and Remus should pop up for mufflers.. Regards Adam |
wats the standard BA size. looks like a 2" from what i can see.. if it is a 2" its not bad at all.
|
2" is standard on BA, yes.. I'm sure it would be the same for the BG SP, but i'm not sure for the SOHC option, it could be 1.75"..
AP |
nah mines 2", i got that mazdaspeed muffler off ebay and its from a sp and fits straight onto mine which is SOHC
|
Huh 2" standard on BA I guess that includes V6, Muffler shop I went to recommended 2" for cat back,
and I believed him he started rattleing off the dimensions of my muffler so I thought this guy knows his Astina's, Are you sure it is 2" as standard? |
yeah 2" is std but its press bent so its effictivly 1.75"
for a 1.8 DOHC BG i would say 2 1/4" mandrel bent for a 1.6 BG 2" Mandrel |
yer pressbent looks dodgy and = performane loss... is mandrel where its bent but without deforming the pipe roundness? or is it where its welded like on extractors so the flow isnt cut
|
yeah the diameter is the same the whole way around the bend
|
But I doubt he was talking mandrel bend if he didn’t say mandrel, just as I doubt it would be Stainless,
Mandrel bends are not welded but bent on a big arse werid looking machine. |
I have a 2 1/4" on my 929 (oh I miss  the BA) and a 3" chrome tip welded on.
Looks the part and has the performance benefit. BTW Skippy most mandrel bent systems are made from purchased mandrel bends and straight pipe. To make a one piece mandrel bent exhaust would be to $$$$$$$ |
i got a mandrel bent system, 2.5" straight through with a cannon and new flexi for 470. Shop around and go into the places if u want a good deal... dont ring
|
tru. is yours from the extractors? and still usin original catconverter & resonator??
|
new cat but i have a turbo so its from the dump pipe rather then extractors.
|
so u got new cat, cannon, and pipe for 450 installed? thats pretty good. my cannon was 165 installed for a zetti
|
yeh i actually rang the people originally and he said like 600 but went in and he said 300 for just hte exhaust and cat. cannon was 100 and flexi 70. If ur in newcastle got to newcastle mufflers in bennets green..
|
