ok so a bit of an update,

my gearbox conversion is getting there slowly. the engine mount brackets have been fabrecated, i have the adaptor plate for the mr2 sw20 box sitting in my shed. im just awaiting for my custom (in a way) earset to come up from VIC. im putting some longer ratio gears into the box. not to much longer but just enought so that first gear actually gets u moving better.

as for my front brake upgrade, STILL awaiting my V6 hubs  :( so not much movement has happened with that. but i do have the calipers painted and rebuilt so there ready to slap onto the hubs.

as ryan said, on monday him and myself installed some dyno mate in the front doors of my car and in the back parchel shelf. it makes a great defference to the speakers in the front door and the speakers in the shelf. going to be using the rest on the mate for the boot so i can keep the muffler noise down, as it is slowly killing my soul. yep that sexy looking muffler DRONES ALL TO HELL :(

This topic deserves it's own thread ;)

There will be many questions in relation to engine mounts, adaptor plates and much more - it's probably better that it doesn't clutter your main build thread.

dont worry i will be doing an update with pictures and what not too.. i can do a thread. but most of all the info is on fordlaser. but i can dig it up and make it if people are interested :)

Great build thread Mat! Good to see another ba well worked, and well loved. Keep it coming.

Any pics to add of the dynamat - for future reference Matt?

mattylagana 11-10-2012 07:25 PM

The best job of all was the rear engine mount... even with the engine out it was a pig to remove. I had to drop the sub frame, steering rack, and bend a 17mm opened spanner to get the angle right to undo the nuts. Don’t know how people do it with the engine still it

http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/...at1987/518.jpg

After 5 days of banning your head trying to figure out an easier way, an then u drop everything listed above jack the rear of the engine up to give Clarence for 2 extension joint, a uni joint a ratchet to make its way down the back between the firewall an block, and then removing the exhaust for ppl with after market!!

project.r.racing 11-10-2012 07:41 PM

weird. with the engine out. you should bee able to just climb into the engine bay and rip that sucker out.

mattylagana 11-10-2012 08:37 PM

nah no chance its mounted to the top center of the sub frame, even if you can get 2 bolts undone there is a third that you cant get anything to untill you drop the subby for some room to work with.

Clean_Cookie 11-10-2012 08:48 PM

It only took 20minutes once engine was out for me...?

Subframe bolts, 4 pwr steering rack bolts and the two for the mount itself?

mattylagana 11-10-2012 10:05 PM

Three for the mount itself? And my above rant was for trying with engine in lol
