how fast does your astina goes for 0-100km/h?

jux had a test wif my 94 astina v6 2.0 auto, a dispoint result told me that i need around 13sec......... so whats urs?

platypus 15-07-2005 01:58 PM

wah wah wah, buy a porsche next time, not a mazda.....

Rupewrecht 15-07-2005 02:17 PM

should be about 10 for a v6!

CRA23 15-07-2005 03:15 PM

when wheels or motor mag did there test of a v6 manual it did a mid 16, 400m and a high 8 sec 0-100kmh

Dogo 15-07-2005 07:56 PM

i was getting 8s on street in full trim in my v6.

without many tries.

applio 15-07-2005 07:59 PM

mayb because my one is a auto, i think if man shoud be faster

Dogo 15-07-2005 08:01 PM

well u have the advantage of keeping the revs high.

my v6 hada few mods but nothing serious.
a CAI with K&N panel filter and a higher pressure fuel regulator was about all i think.

applio 15-07-2005 09:21 PM

my v6 is stock except a muffer, but shouldnt be that slow.......................

Nate 15-07-2005 09:53 PM

how didyou measure the time? give us some more details on your car ... how many ks, condition etc, also what fuel are you running it on? does it run smoothly? how many ks are you getting from a tank?

i was measure it on a straght free way, wif myself and a stop watch, it had done 150k on the clock, i jux bought this car few month ago and when i pick it up everything is stock, wif the 16inch wheel, i added a canon muffer, engin runs ok, runing on normal unlended fuel, when i was doing the test, 1/2 of the tank was filled.
or mayb a v6 shouldn't give me that slow, mayb i really need to bring to a mechanic to have a check......

the tyres could be throwing out the speedo too. if you have larger tyres the speedo would be showing 100kph and in reality you're doing faster, therefore making the times incorrect...

Dogo 16-07-2005 09:57 AM

the 16s are stock on the v6.

u may find that if u drive it softly on a day-to-day basis the computer will adjust the way it fuels the engine to suit your driving style. this would give less performance.

if you havnt replaced the basics recently I'd do that
air filter
spark plugs
run some injector cleaner through it.

maybe take a look at the contacts in the distributor, check the leads for arcing etc.

and give your baby some good fuel :D

geetee 16-07-2005 11:13 AM

here`s some quarter mile times:
http://www.popuplights.co.uk/quartermile.htm

no auto`s i know, but it gives you something to compare against.
also, speedo`s are well know to err on the optimistic side.
so if your speedo says 100k`s then your probably at about 104 or 105.

Nick Hiscock: A ferrari!
Peter: Thats correct!
Nick Hiscock: Guess what? I bought my wife something that goes from 0-100 in 2secs..what is it?

Paul & Peter: Thats impossible! Nothing can go that fast!

Nick Hiscock: I bought my wife a weight scale!

Toyboy 16-07-2005 10:48 PM

Just went out and tested my times and i run couple of passes on the g-tec and and did 8.2sec 0-100kph,thats in street trim with 18" wheels & stereo etc.
Just outta curiosity if any1 knows, what do the 6cyl commonwhores/falcons run?

chicaboo 17-07-2005 12:49 AM

Most of us with minor mods can keep or take a commodore or Falcon on the road. I've done a commodore the whole way down the strip before too. Which is OK considering the superior launch it should be able to muster with all that power and the flawless action of an auto to launch it... Not that my 16.653 was fantasitc, but better than him by 0.4s still.

tidy protege 17-07-2005 01:03 AM

me and a mate a while back timed my 1st bj II protege to a 100 with a 2" crush bent cat back exhaust system and on a stop watch and i could consistantly get it 0-100 in 9.6s and a best time of 9.467, my wheels were 1" bigger than factory size so it could have been faster but its hard to say. like many of you i can beat commodores which are much more powerful cars.

im hoping that with the full exhaust and injen i could get my car into the very low 9s or high 8's and running mid to low 16s, should engine management and cams come along later id be very happy to run twilight times, but 15.5 id my goal with out snail power. Stock Astra turbo times are what id love to see coming from my car.

applio 22-07-2005 11:13 AM

so does any one can give me a quote about on the change the air-filter and a CAI system cost?

thx heaps.
