Yep, a lightly-oiled K&N is a pretty good thing.

As for the ducting, remove the airbag, and then it's a few bolts that hold the resonance chamber in place. From memory you can put the front left wheel off and loosen the inner guard liner, and that's the easiest way to get it out.
