My current problem is that the diesal redlines at 4,500rpm while the 'stina will redline around 8,000rpm and I'm already short shifting a standard engine.
unless you put in a NB MX-5 engine, none of the JDM BPs in the BG or BA had higher compression pistons

there is the non-cat BP that was sold in the early BGs in Europe, NZ, and other countries which had 9.8:1 compression

put in a compression tester and you'll see... numbers don't lie
