the 3 has more power and space. but you'll pay more for having a younger car with less milage.

I purchased a new Mazda 3 for my wife early this year as I had held of buying another car after the Mazda SP20 was written by hail stones in 2010.
The difference in performance is fairly noticable from the SP20 even though both have a 2ltr mtr the Mazda 3 is fairly gutsy on take of but the SP20 I feel had a better interior quality but less safety and more road noise. If he can get a good one which we owned with only 50,000 odd kms and has been serviced it should be under $9,000 as I got a insurance payout in 2010 of $12,500 on the SP20 a good car and handles well if correct tyres are fitted.
