did they earth the exhaust to the car? I think the o2 sensor is earthed through the exhaust via an earth strap.?......possibly disconnected the o2 sensor?...

i wouldn't be blaming the muffler for low km. as the original 400km per tank you were getting is extremely low also. i'd be checking the above things 1st.

maybe you just pushing the accellerator pedal harder to hear your exhaust could be the reason.

To reset the ecu :
disconnect the battery.
turn the ignition to on
depress the brakes pedal for 10 seconds.

I would be checking your oxygen sensor as well

All depends if you have a 1 wire, 2 wire, 3 wire or 4 wire o2 sensor...

O2 sensor screws into the exhaust manifold and looks kinda like a spark plug with wire/s coming from it.

This is how it looks like when removed from manifold. Left= new. right = old (stock)

if there is nothing wrong with the 2nd hand one (i.e similar output voltage) ...no need for a new one. i replaced mine at 120k just for the sake of replacing it & i got it cheap as well, but did not find any difference between the old & new in terms of output voltage fluctuations. Choice is yours if you have extra cash lying around!
