Mazda luvva

Hi all,

New to this site! I bought a Mazda 323 Astina 1996, 5speed manual v6 about 6 or 7 years ago and never want to let go of it.

I'm having clutch problems but will post in the appropriate thread.

So HI and hope someone can help as I'm hoping it's something I can try and fix myself

Welcome to the forum.
If you can describe what symptoms your clutch is showing, no doubt one of us can help with telling you what is going on and whether it's an easy...ish job or not.

Mazda clutch prob

Hi,

Thx for reply, was not sure where to post issue.

Basically the clutch has no resistance and is going straight to the floor. The clutch/brake fluid well is fine and the problem happened a couple of days after helping a friend move who is living on a street with a very steep incline. I'm not sure what else to post, please let me know any other info needed.

Much appreciated
Sam

Could be a failed master or slave clutch cylinder

If you can poke your head up under the dash to look at the top of the clutch pedal assembly, you might be able to see fluid leaking around where the clutch master actuator rod go through the firewall...pointing to a failed clutch master cylinder. Make sure the cotter pin is still connecting the pedal assembly to the actuator rod.
You can also follow the clutch line from the rear of the brake reservoir, on to the clutch master and all the way to the clutch slave mounted on the front of the gearbox hidden under an engine mount. Check the whole thing for any leakage. Sometimes the flexible join can bulge out or split and leak.
