here's mine

to save some time loading the page, most pictures are embedded as links.

comparison of stock and shorty antenna

shorty antenna installed

stock instrument cluster

more than 1.5mm on the top

less than 1mm at the bottom

i carefully pry the rings off and tried to make the gaps more uniform but it looks the bottom always fit better than the top. anyway the gaps are hardly noticable.

rings installed, garage door closed

rings installed, daylight

and finally, wooooo...

the video says everything. and thanks for your tips. easy work. no surprises.

thanks twilight!

ugh just had this in mind. this new batch of rings are tighter fit, which means they're bigger than last batch (mainly the resistance comes from the inside of the gauge)?

so, anyone tried to deep freeze the rings before installation? gonna make any difference?

I had the 1st batch and all that was needed was a small push into the surrounds. This batch required a more firmer push!!!but i like, no way rings can pop out! With old rings, it popped out twice due to big bumps or potholes!

tried to freeze the rings but no help.

it's very tight fit, i pushed so hard last time that the marks left on the inside of the gauge ring - the black pastic ring.

and when i observed the gaps, it looked it has nothing to do with the rings, there is a gap between the white dial plate thingy and the black pastic ring anyway.

if however we can raise the white dial plate thingy a bit, or stuff something under it, the gap will be gone.

anyway, it looks a couple of thousands of $ more expensive now.

well how good has my day been?? i put my new side indicators on aaand (keeping on topic!) i installed the egg rings!!! - i also found things out....

the BJ-I doesn't have the right sizing for these rings!, so i took to my gauges with a stanley knife!, is alll good now, only need to take pics now - will do as soon as my battery is charged (dead flat)

in cutting the gauges i just took off 1mm round the circle of the black plastic, which allowed the rings to fit v. snugly inside, basically i just chamfered the sharp corner - oh and best of all....

wait for it

waiiit!!

NO GAP!!!!!

ugh. nice. can't wait to see Ur pic.

here's mine, when i took the ring off after the first attempt. there are white marks on the black plastic gauge rings, and that indicate resistance. but i didn't dare to chop the plastic, knives are dangerous!

yes, but your car has a raised face on it...fine is flat across to start with, so my rings probably project out a bit further than they should!

mine goes no higher than the lowest white mark on your pic
