speaking of rally cars, whats the legalities of a stripped out race car thats trying to be road legal?

does a stripped interior make much effect on the road worthyness?

Depends entirely on which state you live in and which rego scheme you've got the rally car on...

The worst state is SA, followed closely by QLD, both of whom don't have dedicated rally rego for Australian delivered cars. The best is VIC which does have dedicated rally rego... NSW is blazay in the middle somewhere....

whys SA the worse, i thought ours is easiest in aus.
but i know rollcages illegal here (unless engineered where the rear seats are and cant come past the back door)

for the reference, NSW, and legalities on - door skins, roof linings, carpets, etc.

rear seats are obvious.

Answered your own question...

...can't have a rally car without a roll cage.*

* Yes I'm well aware of the exemptions, before anyone starts quoting the CAMS manual. I'm generalizing.

well, theres ways of having rollcages on the road legally in NSW, but theyre pretty much just the same protection as having some pool foam sticks bent over your head.

On the other hand you can get conditional registration on your car as a race vehicle as long as its only driven to certain locations. I've seen a few really nice time attack race cars travelling through to goulburn when I lived there except for the race brake pads around town, and the suspension trying to work on the epic potholes.

*whips out his cams manual too* though I much prefer acting in a fire/rescue support role with racing. training at the Kurnell oil plant was brilliant.
