If you dont read "What have you done to your car today" thread, i crashed my car on Friday. Traffic was moving nicely at a merge give-way at a roundabout, the lovely fellow in front decided he wanted to stop, i was looking to my right, slammed up his rear end. He got a scratch, i got a written off car.

R.I.P Eugene (Yes it's name was Eugene) today he was written off. It's been just under 2 years, and he's been the best car i've ever owned. We had some bad times in the beginning, but we've had a lot more good times. I'll never forget thrashing you around mount Nebo about 1 month into ownership (First AGT meet too) and the last one was a thrash around Mt Nebo a few weeks ago. I've spend thousands on this car, and im proud i did. It just made it that little bit better every time. <3

The uh oh photos.

Returned to stock for it to be sent off into the unknown.

Just making it clear, none of my parts are forsale yet. I might be buying another SP20, if i don't, i'll be making a thread. No dibs, no early offers, first in best dressed when i post up a thread.

I'd also like to thank the whole AGT community. You guys are the BEST car community ever. I cannot thank the QLD members enough for all your helpers. And i enjoyed meeting up with the NSW members that one time too Your advice and comments are always a treat to read. I <3 you guys so much, and I'm not planning to leave anytime soon.

I'd like to thank Bec and her friend Ross for helping me out today. Couldn't of done it without you guys. Bec, you can come take backwards photo's in my new car anyday

If i don't buy another Astina, i hope you guys will still welcome me on your forum and your meets! Side not, i'll be buying another mazda 100% though

thats sad ben. a least you got to keep the goodies from it. most insurance companies dont allow you to do that.

my car was in an accident too and it was the same damage i believe, front bar, bonnet, radiator, headlights, radiator support, heat shield and some small bit and pieces but cost me only $2800 to get it fixed.

it's bull**** the insurance company wrote it off.

Not really, the insurance company has a cut off point when it comes to the cost of repair versus the car's value (%). In this case it must have exceeded it.

Bummer to see a nice sp20 gone, have fun shopping!

Sh*t happens Harry, as Ryan said, I'm lucky I got my goodies. I realised I left my stereo mic though...oh well, I got everything else.

I hate car shopping, getting money organised, dot, insurance etc, makes me cringe. I like the day I pick it up, hate the day after because it involves dot and then it's okay again haha.

Can't we just tell them that we can get the car fixed ourself other than let them write off the car?

Never been with full comp so I don't really know how it works!

If you only have third party by all means, with full comp they own the written off car. You can opt to buy it back from them.

But its still a writeoff. That involves a $500ish trip to get a rwc and inspection. Plus any repairs.

Hence why I said originally not to inform insurance and fix it yourself. That way it avoids the status and expensive check.

What's the point of having full comp if you do that? I'd rather take the money and find a new car, not worth the hassle.
