Home form work & just about to go out to car (after luvin on my dogs first that is haha) I'm home alone tonight as wife is @ her family's do. Mine are 2000kms away in Qld.....Thanks for input btw :0

Ok. Concerning this pipe. I'm going to match port the lower end of the intake pipe where it meets the compressor snout, as it is about 1/8th thinner on the pipe end. I'll leave it @ that.

Reading alot over the last 2 days on the development of the VJ23, as a specific turbo to the GTR engine. Amazing ol' turbo really. Amazing engine too don't worry about that

Anyway, I am falling in luv with this Astina. Kinda a crush I had many years ago when they were just out. May even rid myself of the Sooby sometime next year if all goes to plan? Serious No BS! The Sooby is like a swash buckling Errol flynn while the Astina with this lil' gem is more like a Rocky Balboa Rough n ready only, that fargin lag..........Rocky is more likeable than Errol imo......

In all seriousness. It all depends on the what I have to spend on the Asty?

Ice, have you any "straight to the point" literature on this? Because concerning this zero vacuum you mention. I've only concluded that a restrictive air intake produces "unwanted" vacuum. I understand maximum velocity is the key with compressed air of course but, concerning restriction, it's actually less of a problem exiting the compressor outlet side, as it's easier to push air than suck it kinda thing......restriction @ the intake side is the greater problem.

As far as a larger pipe reducing velocity & increasing lag. Sure! But where not talking a larger pipe. Where talking a restrictive pipe!

To make it clear:
The compressor inlet snout is 2" diameter so, designed for a 2" diameter intake pipe
The stock GTR intake pipe narrows to 1 3/8" where it goes around the b/housing bolt

This is the problem. I know problem will be much more evident up top-end of power range but, also @ idling & low rev/pre-boost speeds. This is where it bugs me most!

Ok. As a certain Honeywell Rep knows, regarding the GTR build side of things. As fate would have it. Turns out the BPD engine needs a rebuild to be reliable. It didn't have a new Timing Belt & Water Pump & since pulling it down, obvious it has been sitting for a while unfortunately.

All parts are in excellent nic so, will be selling off engine for parts along with the other GTR gear.

Have learnt alot & the story doesn't end here but only starts

Monumental decision to acquire lol....the real deal! Will have it home Weds week.

Have looked long & hard into this particular piece. Talking over last few months & nows the right time it would seem.

The only downer is the Sooby has to go to make way for this new beasty.

Good week to all....oh, & it's a Mazda yes

Well. The lil' Asty sits idle in the shed/come garge lol.

Managed to source a KF TX3 turbo down here. It's a 4WD though bugger it! Too bad as the engine sounds a treat.

The lowered 4WD suspension is no good for the Astina nor the gearbox. However, box may be worth getting it for.......the other lil' piece I will be picking up tomorrow night & have down here Wed. Won't be starting another thread but, will post up a couple pics on this thread. Won't be doing a lot on this particular car. Will be more a weekend car & I'll be speaking out partial rego for it. It has had a funny life since it was personally imported several years back. Some will recognize it I'm sure but, I'm purposefully sidestepping it's past as it's been in the habit of munching boxes & off e road more times than on due to stubborn current owner failing to listen to the advice to remedy this. Mat knows what I'm talking about

Back to the Astina, Just don't fancy having yet another donor car in the back yard right now. I'd have parts to sell on thou so, will consider it. Seller is getting back to me to discuss things Wed arvo.

So. I would have a strong BPT, VJ20 & all necessary gear for the Astina!

The stock BG gearbox should be ok with the BPT you'd think? At least I have the Exedy clutch & reground flywheel here.

Will see Weds chaps

No no no Rod hehe. Am considering the donor TX3 for the Astina. That is my only project

The GTR I'm picking up today is complete. No current issues & really will be a weekend car. It has just munched through a few boxes in it's time due to current owner, ignoring advice to fit the GT4 box so it can run the kw's he keeps expecting box to handle. The problem is him, not the car. In frustration, he's selling car off. It's a gem & I chose it over one in QLD that doesn't sound half bad either. Just, I didn't want the diff issue & paint is getting bit tired with this paticular one in QLD.

It's in the driver and the clutch.

****ing BRASS BUTTONs and Over the top PUCK clutch - Oh **** my Clutch it's hard to drive with out jerking like a 13 year old with 2 hours off porn hub in his face.

They should try it with metal ankles and arthritis.

Most owners don't really make enough REAL power or set car up to actually grip.
So you see them keep upping the power until it breaks. Or when they do they need clutch to hold bang they go to hard or cheap. The later being the reason they get some nasty stuff fitted and bang it goes.

GT-4 box will make hold but considering the engineer considered - Loose gravel roads and restrictor limited 300Hp.- but fatter curve then MOST people seem to get out of there street cars. The Box really should be okay, Then again The difference between a Street Driver at the lights and a Rally driver in a race. Simply comes down to the Rally driver wants to race next week and get paid. the Owner driver ? well - impress his boyfriend - Street cred - Hope it translates to his penis ?

Cookie, it was the Candy Apple one in Sydney that was advertised (& will be again shortly) on Carsales. Has it's own website of wank! Some on ford laser forum will know it.

Rod, most of these dudes seem to get the car's gearshift & their own shaft mixed up.....

Let's say, he can keep it! Was painted too thick several years back & now has cracked everywhere. Dude is looking to palm it off to someone else. Pity, good mechanics no doubt.

So, it's just the Astina now to sort out. No idea just yet where this project will go. Need to fall back n regroup lol......

The only issue I have with the Sooby. The clutch/gearbox BS! These cars are a great for weekend fun but for everyday easy driving....up the sh1t! Luv the boxer engine but gearbox is a cantankerous lil bassad. These are heavy mutha's too! If only it was as light as the rex STi, I'd be magic! This is the real downside. The weight. Very solidly built car, never a squeak or rattle or windscreen flex. Just fuggin heavy.

I may be going out to look at this BG TX3 tomorrow morn, as a donor for the Astina? Not real sure just yet.
